In sub-Saharan Africa, half of women with breast cancer are diagnosed at stage III. Only 4% are diagnosed at stage I. A review of 85 studies and 33,053 patients found the average age at diagnosis is 48.7, younger than in high-income regions.

Kenya's nurses ended their 43 day strike on September 9 after pay disputes. Africa still has only 46 per cent of the health workers it needs, and could face a shortage of 6.1 million by 2030, while 943,000 trained workers remain unemployed.
