@westsuffolkcouncil.bsky.social Any idea why my food waste bin hasn't been emptied this morning, but the rest of the street has? As you can imagine - it's not something I want sitting full for any longer than necessary right now!

Probably the first time in years I’ve barely had a symptoms, until now that is! Weather as always playing a large part.

Thought I'd got off lightly with hay fever season this year, but today has been something else! Usually I'm over the worst part of it by now too...Anyone else suddenly being hit hard?

July is always typically the quieter one - worth nothing that Jan - Mar of this year for both Channel 4 and channel 5 have been delayed!

Do I know any games journalists who may be interested in fact checking a game related book, paid work?

(Should probably say I sit on some committees / working groups, especially with regards to games, as well as standing for the Members’ Council this year)

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

I of course take a different view, but I always want to hear members’ opinions on everything, especially what could be done better!

000

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

That’s partly down to games composers (in my view) tending to not be members of PRO’s, something I’ve raised many times at meetings etc!

It was a water testing deal by nature, but I would suggest it was beneficial for any PRS member with music on a relevant game. For various reasons I think there will be a fair amount of pressure on Valve to get some sort of a deal in place!

000

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

It's generally understood the deal with Sony was made 'easier' due to them having a music arm previously, so their understanding of music licensing was already there when talks began.

000

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

I'd be quite sure it'll fall on the performance side of things in the EU - the difficulty is actually in the US it's not classed as a performance.

000

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

Yes but Valve would pay an overall license to PRS for music use, much the same way the BBC et al do. It wouldn't be on a per game basis and wouldn't be paid by the developers.

000

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

It's far more nuanced than that, also it's worth noting that there has been a deal in place with Sony for the PlayStation store for several years now which has been working fine.

000

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

Technically (certainly with the App Store in Europe), a download is classified as a performance rather than mechanicals.

000

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

Why would one cost 5% of the sale price? It's the platform holder that pays the license, not the game developers.

Term time prices will probably just go up to match the school holiday prices 🥴

Gavin Harrison Sounds @gharrisonsounds.bsky.social · 29/01/2026

They really need to open an enquiry into the price gouging that currently exists, rather than fining parents. We personally don’t take our children out during term time, but know many who do and just take the fine.
