1/ At Get Further, we're on a mission to ensure high-quality tutoring is accessible to every student, not just those who can afford it. We’re proud that our impact is greatest for students from disadvantaged backgrounds – a group least likely to access a private tutor.
A graph demonstrating that, for students who attend 12+ tutoring sessions with Get Further, GCSE maths pass rates are more than double the average for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and GCSE English pass rates are nearly three times the average or students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Last month, we announced our involvement in the newly formed English & Maths Coalition (EMC). But what do we stand for? 🤔 The EMC is guided by a set of shared principles that reflect our vision for equitable, high-quality post-16 English and maths provision:
A list of the EMC's principals:

1. Aspiration for All Students
We believe everyone can succeed in English and maths. Our commitment is to make these subjects accessible and enjoyable in all their forms, continuing beyond 16.

2. Fair Funding and Support
We advocate for coherent, equitable funding across pre- and post-16 education — including a 16–19 Student Premium — to help close the disadvantage gap by age 19.

3. Professional Development for FE Teachers
High-quality, subject-specific professional development is vital. We support expert training for FE English and maths teachers to help them thrive.

4. Tailored Support for Students
Students continuing English and maths should have access to one-to-one or small-group tuition to rebuild confidence and make real progress.

5. Accountability and Recognition
Accountability should reward effort and impact, celebrating the work of FE colleges and encouraging inclusive, student-focused practices.
