HAPPY FRIDAY 🛸 Here’s THE #1 of my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 🎸🤘 it was love at first listen, and has since become one of my favorite metal albums of all time. 1. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere 👽🔺🪐 #Music #MetalSky #Heavymetal #Metalheads #Top10 #Album #Review #Denver #Colorado

The album cover art for Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere (2024). I already wrote many many paragraphs about this album, which you can check out in my full Top 100 Albums list, which I’ll post tomorrow! In short, this album is a captivating, mind-melting, fever dream of a space rock / prog rock / death metal record. It’s a love letter to metal and all of its far stylistic reaches, told through intense lyrical and dissonant instrumental passages. Oh, and throw in some synth solos for good measure.

Good morning 🏺 Here’s the runner-up for my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 🎸🤘 this was a RYM find that might be one of the craziest albums I have ever heard. Highly recommend to the adventurous metal fans. 2. Ὁπλίτης – Παραμαινομένη #Music #MetalSky #Heavymetal #Metalheads #Review #France #China

The album cover art for Ὁπλίτης – Παραμαινομένη (2024) (Hoplites – Paramainomeni), an avant garde technical death metal album from Hoplites, a Chinese solo project based out of France, sung/composed in Ancient Greek. This is a wild ride of some of the most insane instrumental decisions and hardest-hitting riffs ever.

Good morning 🌻 Here’s the next entry for my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 🎸 Top 3 here we go 🤯 3. Thy Catafalque - XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek #Music #Metalsky #Heavymetal #Metalheads #Top10 #Album #Review #Hungary #Mako #Hungarian #Albums

The album cover art for Thy Catafalque - XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek (2024). This album melds many seemingly distant styles of metal into one cohesive and bright project that is very hard not to be obsessed with.

Good morning 🗡️ Here’s the next entry for my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 🎸Might post a few albums today because I like the symbolic nature of posting #1 on a Friday… we’ll see! 4. Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God #Music #Metalsky #Heavymetal #Metalheads #Top10 #Review #NewZealand #Aotearoa

The album cover art for Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God (2024). One of the coolest and most immersive storytelling albums of any genre this decade, Ulcerate’s newest project soaks the listener in vast soundscapes with impressive drumming, dissonant riffage, and great band chemistry

Good morning 🥀 Getting right back into the list: here’s the first top-five entry for my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 🎸 this one’s HEAVY… 5. Thou - Umbilical #Music #Metalsky #Heavymetal #Metalheads #TierList #Top10 #album #BatonRouge #Louisiana

The album cover art for Thou - Umbilical (2024). An immense album with low low riffs that are heavy enough to rearrange the intestines. Emotional courses through the record as it explores different tonal and songwriting approaches

Good afternoon 🤘 Before the Top 5 of my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024, here are some honorable mentions!! Black Pyramid - The Paths of Time Are Vast Missouri Executive Order 44 - Salt Sermon Opeth - The Last Will and Testament Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Nell’ Ora Blu #Music #Metalsky #Metalheads

The album cover art for Black Pyramid - The Paths of Time Are Vast (2024). This was an absolute odyssey of a stoner metal album, arguable a cooler 12+ year comeback than Sleep’s “The Sciences” (2018)

The album cover art for Missouri Executive Order 44 - Salt Sermon (2024). Bike helmet-donning MOE44 shows promise for being a class underground noisy hardcore/sludge metal outfit. This record is quite insane, probably my #11 of the year.

The album cover art for Opeth - The Last Will and Testament (2024). Love me a good concept album, and this is a refreshing approach for a band I’ve had mixed feelings about since I first heard them ~7 years back. Other members of the band would put this in their top 3… do with that info what you will lol

The album cover art for Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Nell’ Ora Blu (2024). This was in my Top 10 overall albums of the year, but this isn’t really a metal or rock album at all. It’s a horrorsynth experience unlike anything else, truly a different listening experience from most albums I have ever heard.

Good morning 💐 Here’s the next entry in my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 🤘 A very pleasant surprise for me, maybe my favorite new screamo album besides Jerome’s Dream’s LP from last year 6. Frail Body - Artificial Bouquet #Music #Metalsky #Metalheads #Heavymetal #TierList #Top10 #Review #Illinois

The album cover art for Frail Body - Artificial Bouquet (2024). A screamo / post-hardcore / atmospheric blackened death metal-twinged record that combines emotionally crushing vocal performances with reverb-soaked shredders of guitar and bass riffs. The performance is tight and the music is immersive.

Good afternoon 🙇‍♀️ Might ruffle some feathers with this one… sorry not sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Here’s the next entry for my TOP METAL ALBUMS OF 2024: 7. Knocked Loose - You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To #Music #Metalsky #Metalheads #Heavymetal #TierList #Top10 #Review #Kentucky #KLMF

The album cover for Knocked Loose - You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To (2024). A crushing culmination of tracks that establish Knocked Loose as an absolute powerhouse in the Hardcore and Metalcore scenes, leaning into harsh yet atmospherically beautiful soundscapes. I don’t care that Bryan Garris sounds like a dog, it’s awesome.

Good afternoon ⚖️ Sorry for the delay! Make sure to get enough sleep each night 😴 Here’s the next entry for my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024: 8. Spectral Wound - Songs of Blood and Mire #Music #Metalsky #Metalheads #Heavymetal #TierList #Top10 #Review #Montreal #Quebec #Canada

The album cover art for Spectral Wound - “Songs of Blood and Mire” (2024). This album has fascinating dark melodic black metal soundscapes that harness power from 90’s thrash and 00’s death metal.

Good afternoon 🪈 Here’s the next entry for my TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS OF 2024: 9. Alcest - Les Chants de l'Aurore #Music #Metalsky #Metalheads #Heavymetal #TierList #Top10 #Review #France #Paris

The album cover for Alcest - Les Chants de l'Aurore (2024), the #9 album of my Top 10 Metal Albums of 2024. This album is somehow one of their most cohesively consistent records to date, going for a more tranquil and ethereal sound on this one. It very much matches the album cover art, which features a beautiful sunset (over tall grass and slender trees that remind of a southern hemisphere - style climate), a nude long-haired person playing a long thin woodwind instrument, and eight majestic cranes following the person (some of the cranes have their wings spanned out and their heads in the air). Most of the colour is an orange-y red/brown gold and the vegetation and birds have a dull pale teal/patina colour that contrasts beautifully with the sunset.

The album cover for Chat Pile - Cool World (2024). One of the heaviest and most crushing sludge metal albums so far this decade, in some ways outdoing their previous record.
