Never should have allows wiretapping without a warrant. Fix this and only then consider renewal. #GetFISARight

What next on FISA Section 702? Good question! Once things do pick up, they're likely to start moving quickly. So ... stay tuned! getfisaright.net/2026/06/22/what-ne…

🚨🚨🚨 Punchbowl News reports a bipartisan deal on KIDS Act, which includes KOSA 🚨🚨🚨 The House vote could come as soon as next week. Meanwhile, Sen. Blackburn is working with the White House on linking KOSA with AI regulation, and Senate markup is expected in July. FYI @omarsbigsister.bsky.social

How many primaries is FISA an issue in? I've see @votewelch.bsky.social pointing out @tomsuozzi.bsky.social's pro-surveillance votes, and @bhennrich.bsky.social similarly with @gluesenkampperez.house.gov Are there others?

Last Friday, FISA Section 702 lapsed. The debate over its renewal has produced some misconceptions — and outright lies — about the reauthorization fight and what the statute's sunset means for U.S. intelligence. EPIC put together this Myth vs. Reality guide to help clear up some of the confusion:

The FISA Section 702 Debate: Myth vs. Reality
Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) grants the government the authority to compel U.S. electronic communication service providers to cooperate with surveillance programs that target non-U.S. persons outside the United States, but this surveillance also “incidentally” captures the communications of Americans. Prior to Section 702 authority sunsetting on June 12, 2026, Congress was unable to agree to reauthorize the authority. The debate on reauthorization has been pervaded by myths to obscure the reality.

Congress shouldn’t accept the false choice between extending FISA 702 without reform or letting it expire, argues Tech Policy Press Fellow and the Deputy Director of Security & Surveillance at CDT Jake Laperruque. Lawmakers should allow votes on bipartisan amendments and pass meaningful safeguards.

Stop the FISA Fearmongering and Allow Fair Votes on Reforms
Jake Laperruque argues that lawmakers should reject fearmongering over a FISA 702 lapse and allow votes on bipartisan reforms to curb surveillance abuses.
