I hate this so much. I don't follow their Discord, because why would i? Just 2 weeks ago a colleague asked me for something to get his N64 work on a modern screen and look nice. Of course my instant suggestion was to look up retrotink. Well thats gone now. Anybody know good alternatives?

Oh that is already released. But if thats how they do it.... its either AI slop or on purpose that you can just simply make it offer all hacks the Kaizoff API offers, not just opt-in. Like literally 20 mouseclicks, notepad, and 10-60 seconds of time. It should be blocked by the API, not client side.

I hope they will do that. And yes thats more than fair. Trust is something hard to earn, and incredibly easy to lose. I also still like the idea of it. If it just was opt-in, from the very beginning. Especially since its the second time. Time will tell.

I am pretty convinced if it was Opt-In, which is the only way this ever should be done, nobody would be upset. As it would then be the choice of the person who created the art. Having it Opt-Out shows that nobody did care and its just there as an excuse.

We've been there already, 2,3 or was it 4 years ago? And its the same shit as back then. Ignoring artists, and feeding the content machine, unless they specifically opt-out. And even then, allowing to ignore that. Opt-out, is NEVER good. Opt-in is the only acceptable form to do such things.

The common Mixtape/Kaizoff defense seems to read like: "We don't need consent to repurpose/redistribute your work, you published it for free." I would urge those making such arguments to consider that they can go fuck themselves. There is also a thing called respect. Opt in gives the artist agency.

Reminds me when i had to slice a giant picture into like 60x30 slices and PS just failed me. I just used php with ImageMagick and two nested loops. Was done in 5 minutes including writing the code.
