On @io9.com, we only cover certain movies. Digger, we were told, was not one of those movies. So when I went to see Digger last night, it was just because I'm a movie fan. And now, well, I felt all but forced to talk about Digger on io9 with major, full spoilers.

The first trailer for Brad Bird's RAY GUNN just dropped & it's killer. Yes, the man behind Ratatouille, The Incredibles & The Iron Giant is back. Recently, I sat down with Bird to talk about the film, why it took so long, how close he came to directing Star Wars & lots more. Check it out.

Random question - I was playing both Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and 007: First Light and just kind of fell off both. Batman was super repetitive, and First Light just felt less action-packed than I wanted. Should I keep going? Do they get significantly better?

Been a lot of talk this week about advanced movie tickets, scalping movie tickets, and all that. I decided to write a bit about it.

People Scalping Movie Tickets Sucks, but Don't Be Too Worried
Advance sales for 'The Odyssey' and 'Dune: Part Three' set dangerous precidents, but they're the exception, not the rule.

Been waiting forever for Andrew Patterson’s follow up to The Vast of Night. It’s finally here & it’s spectacular. The Rivals of Amziah King is a wholly unique film/experience. It’s electric, shocking, beautiful & poignant. Kind of never seen anything like it. Patterson is a King on the rise.

I loved the first five episodes of Lanterns. Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, DC lore, all excellent. And while I haven’t seen the finale yet the two episodes after that though feel like it’s a whole other show in a very odd way. Full review -

The #EndofOakStreet is a very fun, wildly well-made, Jurassic Suburb with a great period setting, plentiful surprises and lots of creepiness. My one issue is best scenes - of which there are many - shine way brighter than the rest. So it feels a little off, but is still very good.

Don’t mind me. I’m just sitting here crying after watching #SpidermanBrandNewDay  It’s a massive movie that balances like 5 different through lines in equal measure, each better than the last. It can feel a little overwhelming but it all comes together so beautifully it works.

I will always love the fact MLB All Star, & Chicago Cubs superstar, Pete Crow Armstrong, is the son of Ashley Crow. Aka Billy Heywood’s mom in Little Big League. The mom in Little Big League is the mom of an actual big leaguer. (I’m aware most people know this. I don’t care.)

#TheOdyssey is *almost* as good as you want it to be. Of course, it's a filmmaking marvel, and I was fully engaged throughout. But, at times, the story moves in such a beautiful, jazz-like way that the more stagnant moments suffer by comparison. Small gripe, though. I can't wait to see again.

It's time for another edition of "Germain goes back and rewatches a movie he loved as a kid to see how it holds up." This time, it's Joe Dante's Explorers. Unfortunately, while half of it is freaking amazing, the other half is not. And I'd basically blocked that second half from my brain.

This sounds great in theory but I’m not sure it’s quite the flex people think it is. Are influencers going to be denied screenings? Of course not. And there will definitely be early junket screenings. So if this is just holding everyone to the same embargo it’s not that huge a deal.

I loved #DisclosureDay. A dense roller coaster ride blending chase film, love story, & mystery, all wrapped in sci-fi wonder. It's Spielberg's best film in 20 years, filled with all the magic that makes his films so special, plus an all-time character and performance by Emily Blunt.

#MastersoftheUniverse has a very fun, weird, yet enjoyable last 20 minutes or so. As for the rest of the movie? It’s a mess. Serious played for laughs, laughs played for emotion, it works, it doesn’t, it really tries but ends up being too awkward. Great end credits scenes though
