He was going in angry and only got worse when he found out about ranjit being complicit

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 40m

I think shortly after this in the occular Cal crashed out about the absurdity of the situation they're in. Compared to the rest of them and the dialogue choices I had him make he's been incredibly bitter this entire expac and the entire time it's been tragedy after tragedy. Eulmore was his worst

Also knowing what I know now about ShB, god how awful the CE must have felt seeing Cal's unchecked anger at him. It must have crushed him

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Eden raid series gotta be my favorite now and really characterizes that Cal has a shit memory. Why ur primals harder Cal, only up to Rynva currently cuz msq gates the last 4 but man I might actually learn the savage versions of these fights as my first savage #ff14 #FF14 #FFXIV

000

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

GOD if cal wasnt with cid I WOULD lowkey ship them. Zenos is the only other person Ive seen get this lighting on them besides the WOL

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Eden raid series got cal crying like the proud gay dad with his now two lesbian adopted daughters

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I LOVED that Ardbert's Bravaura lost its blood, signifying that hes moved on and is finally letting go of his guilt in a healthy way #FF14 #FFXIV

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

What an amazing end to this saga in Cal's story. I loved that he was felled by an axe in the end, cal may have made peace with his inner beast but in the end the shape of Ardbert's and Cals soul is still an axe in the end specifically the bravaura, the axe who's soul they awakened

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I like to imagine he called the reminder of cal's soul, dunno if it's canon or not but its fun to think of this moment like that. Got chills from how cool it was, despite how easy the following boss was

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Fuckkkkk now I have to get the resistance relic weapons since Cid's story is continued here and Cal is his hubbies biggest supporter

000

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

GOD what a cool moment here, especially since cal uses the same axe too and his first tank class was Warrior. Truly meant to be a big beefy tank in any world. I also imagine Esteem and Myste were there too, every part of his soul giving him the strength to continue

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I love that my girl allie is the first to act here, shes always putting her money where her mouth is even if she's not always up to the level

110

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

REALLY good moments all around, I love stories like this so much, alphinaud's deliveries here were phenomenal

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Huh, called it. Lowkey glad that this doesn't kill the fact that cal was already a reincarnation. It just means that his other piece was from a shard that had a calamity, he WAS from dnd after all, has dwarves, elves, goliaths and more proper reflections and all that

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

With Canto 10 in limbus company playing besides me an a central message of the ending being similar to the themes of this expansion I shouted CARMEN when I saw this

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

There's a reason I stopped at level 3 of the ARR relic weapon, I dont think I could ever want any relic weapon especially since I dont even LIKE their designs for the most part. But Cal's first thought was "WHY ARENT YOU BALD????"

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Just wow, these deliveries from Alisaie's actress were so good. Shes had my faveourite performances this entire expansion. You can really feel the emotion in her reads

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

This is the scene that made me cry, something I think Cal shared. He was bawling when he came out of this flashback, it finally *clicked* that what he was doing MEANT something and snapped him out of his funk hed been in this entire expansion

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Cal's new look btw, I bought a fanta for this, but basically I lengthened his hair and made the sunburn markings a lot more burn scar like on his face. I was debating making one of his eyes turn a light amber instead of the dark amber but didnt like how it looked.

001

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Its comforting in a way that some part of him knows exactly what hes going through, and even in another life hed be a hero, quite literally. One so similar that Cal was even contemplating the same thing the CE was gonna do. That is jumping into the rift and letting the light consume him

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Even now I dont think Cal really GOT what it meant until he woke up from his coma, one that I HC was a lot longer than a few days, enough for his hair to grow and bleach near the ends

Just beat shadowbringers, expect my thread to update over the next few days or so. My closing thoughts is that I'm glad cal in the end finally got the message that he's not alone. Much like HW I cried here too. And that puts it above SB. I'd say that HW 9.7/10 for me, SB an 8/10 and ShB a 9.6/10.

I dont think at any point ever has cal wanted to die more than now. I dont think theres a word for the pain of feeling your very soul being rewritten, and your vision go white at the edges

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

They truly dont know the monster cal would become if they did that

000

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Very good writing here, I loved it, we love a bpd king. Except CE going, " that just happened "

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Okay this might be the first character to actually truly want the WOL in their entirety, not like zenos either. Like CE WANTS him. I was covering my mouth in shock this sequence This is also the first person that hes told he tired of being the WOL and just wants to rest, only cid has an inkling

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Internally hes so tired and more than a little upset that urianger wont tell them

*PSHHH* Ill be FINE 'Shtola, I told ya already, 'member? Cal says with gritted teeth

Sorry a lot to unpack in those two posts, I love the moments everyone is having though

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Cal also feels bad for Emet-Selch, and is deeply afraid that he himself is tempered though and looks much the same to the outside

000

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THIS?!!!! I ALREADY MADE CAL A REINCARNATION OF A DND CHARCTER, HE CANT BE TWICE. Also love this gay old man

Another thing is that since him and Zenos are 27 and 26 respectively, Zenos definitely took an interest in him and abused his power over him to commandeer his training when they both weren't on other sides of the front

000

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

He'd still be an aether powerhouse due to the echo, so I like to imagine he uses something similar to the potd weapons and can partially manifest them like a susano and fights typically with his hands behind his back and dodges to throw people off

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Showing off his Echo for the first time to someone publicly, shocking rhitaltyn and the WOL who then reported it when the Cal tackled rhitaltyn off the cliff behind the teleporter he broke, unable to kill his surrogate father. Knowing that faking his death means his family won't come to harm

100

jerard @Shadowbringers @gerardd.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

And for the WOL, id like to imagine he took down a primal single handedly before having a skirmish with the wol', culminating in a condescending defeat stating that the WOL needed to try harder than that to beat the empire. I think he was the one who fought rhitaltyn instead of the WOL as well
