I have been down south to Somerset to attend the West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Spectacular 2026. The highlight was actually the last evening of the gala and the last run out of Minehead. 80078 was swapped with 60007 giving a brilliant double header! More photos soon!

975025 ‘Caroline’ and 37418 ‘An Comunn Gaidhealach’ passing near Newton Flotman outside Norwich on 2Z70. Unfortunately low mobile data in the area meant I had no clue when it was due. So I waited for 15 mins in hope it hadn’t passed. Luckily I kept waiting!

A chance to see ROMIC's complete Castle Set running at the Mid-Norfolk Railway for the first time. 43092 and 43093, the last set out of Laira, would have their first running day under ownership of ROMIC up and down the railway alongside the 142 Pacer.

A visit to the North Norfolk Railway on Mothers Day to enjoy the sunshine and steam... to which the sun went away as soon as I arrived :/. Top and Tailed WD 2-10-0 90775 and Class 31 D5631 were the locos and a Class 101 were in action over the day.

The star of the show? GBRf Class 66 66791 'Settle & Carlisle 150' paid a visit to the railway during the weekend. Now this 66 and the 45 seemed to be as far as they could be every time it went past me, my luck wasn't great but at least this shot was redeemable!

The oddest unplanned service of the Nene Valley Gala 🤔! Class 14 9529 was seen rescuing the double Swedish Railcar set from its duties at the Peterborough end of the railway back to Wansford for repairs. This caught me off guard but its an interesting move to see!

Today I visited the Nene Valley Railway for their Diesel Gala. First up, I got the chance to see the lovely repainted 43048 in the retro Midland Mainline Bambi livery. Really shined through the grey clouds. 43045 also being in a livery I love on the HST's.

What a weekend this was. UKRailtours and LSL brought Class 45 45118 and Class 47 47593 to in Norfolk to operate a few tours to and from Norwich. Seeing the set three times over this weekend, twice on Saturday (the morning photos were awful) and Sunday in the actual daylight. Brilliant loco!

A Bullied under Paddington's Roof and a Polar Express styled Black 5! On a trip to London over the weekend I managed to get out to see 34028 'Eddystone' arrive into Paddington under the glorious roof. Also 44871 on the Polar Express going home at Hanwell!

On Saturday, I headed back up to the North Norfolk Railway to enjoy their Fiftieth Finale Gala, a wrap up of their anniversary and main running season. Of course 70000 'Britannia' was running but Class 55 D9000 'Royal Scots Grey' joined in the action, and wow thats a beast!

745105 was stuck at Stansted Airport today (and yesterday I believe), so Norwich Depot sent 755411 to pick it up and drag it via Cambridge & Thetford back to Norwich. Long and slow drag but it made it! Also seen is the usual Anglian RHTT circuit, first one seen this year at Harling Road.

Then Sunday rolled around, first up was a 200 mile drive home to Norfolk. But this weekend was the Mid-Norfolk Railway's last running weekend of the season and the HST Weekend using the new ROMIC Powercars. Only saw the final service of the year but it was lovely to see!

The quiet and peacefulness of Thetford Forest was awoken today with double freight, passing within 15 minutes of each other. The new DC Rail flow to Eccles Road is going strong, I missed 56045 and 56103 last week sadly but 60055 took it today! Also seen is 66610 on the FL Eccles Road flow too!

As its the weekend of Rail200, I wanted to go out to enjoy a day of steam action or whatever I could do in Norfolk today. So I chose the small but great Whitwell & Reepham Railway. They are the only railway in Norfolk celebrating the festivities this weekend with their gala.

Today I adventured out to Harling Road once again. The freight scene on the Breckland Line has become interesting last week with Class 70's to Norwich and 60's too. Today, the first Class 70 was put onto the Eccles Road FL flow and today was the beginnings of a new DC Rail flow Eccles Road too!

Over the weekend it was the North Norfolk Railway’s 50th Anniversary Steam Gala. We stayed overnight at Kelling Heath so I got to enjoy two days of steam locos. Newstead and Betton Grange being the stars of the show. Newstead’s first gala in preservation since being found! 🧵

Its been a year already since the last Steam Gala at the Mid-Norfolk Railway. This year there is more fun to have. Home Loco 4MT Tank 80078 is being joined by SR U Class 31806, SR Light Pacific 34053 (as 34050) and Ivatt 2MT 41313. 41313 is a winner for me, I do love the Ivatt tanks alot!

Today was Day 1 of the North Norfolk Railway's Rails & Ales / Mixed Traction Gala. Visiting Loco's ranging from a Class 40, 66 and 69. 69010 was named after the railway to celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year with a ceremony this morning.

This weekend saw my attention focus on something a bit more smaller, like 15 inch gauge smaller! The Bure Valley Railway is celebrating 35 years this year and to join the party, Romney loco's No.6 and No.9 joined the BVR's home fleet in an action packed weekend! (More photos below)

Last week resident steam locomotive to the Mid-Norfolk Railway, BR Standard 4MT Tank 80078 returned after 9 months away at the Spa Valley and at its owners depot in Essex. Great to see it back at the railway and sounding great! Also captured was the return journey of 'The Easterling' tour.
