FC Cincinnati winless streaks extends to six matches after 3-1 loss in Montreal
FC Cincinnati had just nine matches remaining going into their showdown with CF Montreal. FCC are hanging on to the last playoff spot in the east for dear life and desperately needed three points. The Rolling Stones said it best, you can't always get what you want. FC Cincinnati (8-9-9 33pts) fell 3-1 to second bottom in the entire MLS CF Montreal (6-6-15 24 pts), in a match where FCC badly needed three points.

With the playoffs looming large, international play comes at a bad time for MLS teams. FC Cincinnati and CF Montreal clash on Saturday with much of their rosters depleted. Our preview for this weekend's match:
cincinnatisoccertalk.com
International Impact: FC Cincinnati set to travel to The City of Saints
For most of the major soccer leagues of the world, the newly instated 16-day international break allows for a chance for supporters to enjoy their stars representing their homelands. Typically, this window also offers chance for recuperation and additional tactical refinement. However MLS fixtures will bleed into the break, with Saturday's matches being the last until the majority of teams return to action on October 10th.

The international window is upon us, an event that takes a second meaning this weekend. While the USMNT take on the Canadian national team in a few weeks, FC Cincinnati cross the northern border for their own international dialogue with CF Montreal on Saturday. The team formerly known as the Impact have been floundering through another managerial change. However, Montreal still gave Cincinnati a scare in March, scoring three and forcing Cincinnati down to 10 men.

For the fourth time this season, FC Cincinnati constructs another great stoppage-time escape on the road, this time snatching a 2-2 draw against Houston Dynamo with two clutch second-half goals. Gracin Galbreath provides the recap.

FC Cincinnati settle for a draw away to the Houston Dynamo
Stop us if you've heard this before—Cincinnati needed every minute of the match (and then some) to snatch a point. FC Cincinnati (8-9-8, 33pts.) rescued a very 2-2 late draw at one of their most challenging road environments, in the heat and against one of the top teams in the West, the Houston Dynamo (13-5-8, 44 pts.). Pat Noonan reflected on the positive side of the draw.

FC Cincinnati has a victory-drought problem to solve at Houston
Exactly one month removed from their last victory, FC Cincinnati arrives at Shell Energy Stadium after cobbling together a 3-3 draw against Charlotte FC. The Orange & Blue how hang by a thread onto a playoff slot and heavily unfavored. Can Pat Noonan find the right combination from a fully healthy squad to unlock the magic needed for this final stretch?

FC Cincinnati has lived and died by the lower goal differential in the past. Although the team had tight margins, the Orange & Blue had often finished with the three points. This season, the West seems to have their own situation where a low-differential team is lurking toward the top of the table, and they sport their own shade of orange.

Tailspin Averted: FC Cincinnati salvage late draw against Charlotte FC
Sometimes the only way you can stop a ship from submerging is by using anything available to plug the leak. FC Cincinnati recovered from two disastrous road results by firing every bit of offense on net. Down twice at home against Charlotte FC, the Orange & Blue rode a brace from Kevin Denkey and an early goal from Pavel Bucha to draw 3-3 at TQL Stadium.

Preview: A demoralized FCC awaits a strong Charlotte FC
After a difficult loss in Philadelphia, FC Cincinnati have a short turnaround to host Charlotte FC. The Garys have lost the last two matches they played by a combined score of 0-9 (the DC United match from last Saturday was postponed due to weather conditions). FCC has scored 13 goals and allowed 19 since the World Cup break. In the meantime, Charlotte has scored 18 and allowed 10 in that same timeframe.

It's been a lousy time to collide with the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season. FC Cincinnati were given some bad servings of humble pie in Nashville and Philadelphia. FC Cincinnati ‘dooped’ in Philadelphia scoring barrage
After a rained out weekend match, FC Cincinnati looked to reignite its season on the road against the Philadelphia Union, but in a 5-0 dismantling, FCC’s coals have gone cold. First Half: The Orange and Blue took the pitch for the first time after the release of former captain defender Matt Miazga. Andrei Chirila and Kyle Smith inserted into the lineup on either side of Miles Robinson.

After unexpected break, FC Cincinnati search for road momentum against Philadelphia
The past week was one where much happened off the pitch for FC Cincinnati fans. The actual pitch waits another week before use. FC Cincinnati (8-7-7, 31 pts.) were unable to touch grass against D.C. United on Saturday. Unexpectedly heavy rainfall and poor pitch conditions forced the match to be postponed for a later date. Instead, the next competition shifts to the Keystone State, as the Orange & Blue travel to Philadelphia for their next away challenge.

The unexpected postponement on Saturday means that FC Cincinnati has had extra time to consider their side of the equation. Now they need to figure out a team that has suddenly resolved their own issues. The Orange & Blue face a revitalized Philadelphia Union squad that has rediscovered their chemistry. Undefeated since the World Cup break, the Union are suddenly world beaters again after a tumultuous start to the season.

FC Cincinnati hope to rejuvenate their form against D.C. United
The party down in Nashville quickly became its own brutal hangover. Now that the transfer window is closed, the Orange & Blue have to sober up and get back to business. Owners of last season's Wooden Spoon, the Black-and-Red find themselves hovering around the playoff line.

The transfer portal has sealed itself shut. Everything we see from now on is permanent. If FC Cincinnati plans to make the big dance, it will have to do good with the date that brought them to the prom. They'll have to prove themselves against the current Wooden Spoon holders this weekend. Let's not jump to conclusions. D.C. United has done well to distance themselves from last year's performance.

Dark as a Dungeon: FC Cincinnati trounced in The Music City
The age-old maxim of "home-field advantage" has never been more self-proving as in the case of Nashville SC this season. Coming into Saturday night's hosting of FC Cincinnati, the Boys in Gold had only dropped two points within the friendly confines of GEODIS Park this season, and that trend continued. Both sides fielded a full-strength XI, with FCC hoping to bend the staunch Nashville defense under the strength of the dynamic trio of Evander, Kevin Denkey, and Kenji Mboma Dem.

The fans won't call it a rivalry or give it a proper name, but it deserves to be recognized. When Cincinnati was the punk rocker, Nashville was playing the blues. Now the Music City is hotter than their chicken, while the Queen City is under a gentle boil. This couldn't have happened overnight, but Nashville SC are the current U.S. Open Cup holders.
