Interested in minimising human footprint and maximising habitat for wildlife. That will require plenty of science and engineering and a complete rethink of the global food, transportation, energy and materials infrastructure. ie., pro-nuclear vegan.

Do you think nuclear power is inevitably slow to build? Aalo Atomics built a 10 MW reactor in 8 months. It has successfully been "fissioned" and should be truck-ready by July 2027. How has is succeeded where so many have failed? Good question. geoffrussell.substack.com/p/small-modu...

Europe 3.15am. French nuclear pushing about 3 nukes worth of electricity to Switzerland and almost 4 nukes worth to northern Italy. Germany is generating via burning forests and coal, over 500 grams of CO2/kwh compared to 31 in France. Germany chose this. It chose climate pollution over nuclear.

7am in Germany and you wouldn't be able to get a coffee without the imports from French nuclear plants across the border. The German Greens, like the Australian Greens, fooled people into thinking they cared about the climate. The defining issue of our times ... blah blah 1/2

It's 5.15am in France and its nuclear plants are keeping the lights on in quite a few other countries. Northern Italy is getting about 3 nukes worth (see panel), Germany is getting about 1.7 nukes worth, but still burning plenty of coal and getting 4.5 gigawatts from burning forests. 1/2

It's 3.15am in anti-nuclear Germany. There isn't much wind so Germany is burning forests. It is getting about 4.4 gigawatts from wood ... burning about 3,000 tonnes of wood every hour. Also getting over 17 gigawatts of coal. Generating some 560 gms of CO2/kwh. A spectacular own goal.

9am in Europe. France has about 36 nukes powering the country for 23 gms of CO2/kwh. Renewable Germany is generating with plenty of coal & wood 400gms-CO2/kwh. France is sending it about 2 x nukes worth, with about 3 x nukes worth going to Italy, about 1 to Switzerland/Belgium.

I've been busy and ignoring the European grid for some weeks, but not much has changed. It's currently 8am and nuclear France is exporting clean electricity to a much dirtier, renewable Germany. When the Germans prepare their National Inventory each year, I hope they remember to credit ... 1/2

My current daily obsession. It's 3am in France which is exporting a total of 10 gigawatts to 5 other countries. Emissions are running at 47 gms-CO2/kwh for France and 499 gms-CO2/kwh for Germany, which is burning forests, coal and gas. 1/3

It's midday in Europe. As usual, France is exporting to many places and has super low emissions ... 23gms-co2/kwh. It's a good day for Germany, it solar farms are going well and it is also exporting. But still burning wood and coal. Why? Probably for grid stability. 1/2

It's 4.45am in Europe. France is emitting 19gm-CO2/kwh compared to 517gm-CO2/kwh from renewable advocate Germany. France is also exporting to 6 countries & keeping the lights on in Berlin.
