Millions of people write to me every day asking, "Geoff, where can I watch your 16 year-old movie that bombed in theaters, I must put it in my face right now." Well, great news, it is how - for the first time ever - streaming free on Apple TV. So, pencils down!

Rolling into 47 feeling like I'm lucky to be here, lucky to WANT to be here, and ready to turn the second act of my life into a new story I can be proud of. And thankful to have such goddamn great hair still. Even if my head is one size too big for my body.

In one week, #Browns fans giddyup for another bullshit season of Fuck You, I Guess football! In 2009 I wrote for ESPN(dot)com's Page 2 about what that was like. It was bad then. It's unthinkable now. Check it out. My reaction to it drops next Friday. thegeofflatulippe.substack.com/p/the-hard-l...

Today for Short Fiction Week, I thought I'd try something different. I found a list of story prompts, flicked to scroll the screen, and landed my finger on a concept, blind. Thought it'd be a fun experiment. I fucked myself. Fucked myself so hard.

Like I said, I needed to write about something other than life. And I like I said, that's going to come in the form of a piece of short fiction each day this week. For your Monday pleasure, may I proudly present: YARD SARD. thegeofflatulippe.substack.com/p/yard-sard?...

I've been wandering around in this darkness for a while, and I know I'll still be wandering for quite some time. But I sense a tunnel, and know there must be light at the end of it. I wake up every day making the choice to walk towards it.

But I'm putting one foot in front of the other. The support I've had from those of you who know has been too overwhelming for me to properly express my gratitude, but I'll get there one day. For now, from the bottom of my heart: thank you.

I checked myself into the hospital and spent 48 hours in a psychiatric facility, and I'm following through on the treatment I received there with some really great clinicians. It's helping. I have a lot of work to do, and a long road to walk.

You may have seen this RT over the last few days. If youve read it, thank you, and the support I've gotten...it's been incomprehensibly meaningful. What I wasn't ready to say out loud then is in there. But I need to say it out loud now. Two weeks ago, I tried to end my life.

Recently, I've wanted to write a piece about the only bit of screenwriting advice I think matters. I've also dreaded writing a piece about my struggles with mental illness, brain damage and cognitive decline. Somehow they ended up together in one piece. open.substack.com/pub/thegeoff...

I dont remember the last time I was so terrified not only to write something, but to share it...so I tried to just write the screenwriting advice. The other bit forced its way in. It's a long article. I'm scared. But I hope it makes sense, and I hope you find it meaningful.

What I can say is that it's unflinchingly honest, and I tried to remain as raw and vulnerable as I could stand to be in this moment. So while it may not make sense, and it may not be good, it's very real, and I couldn't stop it flowing out of me. I hope you give it a chance.

Ostensibly, these two topics have zero connection. A better, more disciplined writer would have simply refused to allow them to occupy the same space. I, however, am not that writer. And at some point I had no control over what was coming out of me.

There are two topics I've been itching to write about recently - one I was excited to get into because it's fun, and one I was dreading ever talking about because it's personally devastating. As I sat down to write the former, the latter shoved its way in and refused to leave.

Right around 10AM PDT today, I'm publishing a new article on my Substack. And I'm so fucking terrified that I can't sit still. It's the most personal thing I've ever written, and it's the hardest time I've ever had writing something. It's very long. It's also...very strange.

There's also a part of me that's gone full mental nuclear trashfire, and that part of me is considering doing pieces of a real work in progress. It might be interesting (for you) and humiliating (for me) to watch the process in real time? Peep the sausage grind? We'll see.

To the couple of you who asked: no, I'm not going to put the whole thing out there. Not with this project. But I'm toying with the idea of doing this again with a script that actually sold, but got beat to greenlight by a similar project. And that'll be the full boat, every page.

Thanks so much to those of you who sent messages about our Little Script That Never Was. I'm pleasantly surprised how much some of you seemed to dig it, or at least the first act of it. It was the first action-heavy script I ever wrote, so some parts are...rougher.
