Starting season 3. I just need them to reveal the mystery of this damn silo already.

Do you think my neighbors think I'm weird for playing Ennio Morricone's score to "The Mission" while I read on my back porch?

My hot take is that, often, the sentimentality y'all criticize in Flanagan's King adaptations is just sentimentality that King built in to begin with. Recall the author's reaction to Kubrick's "The Shining."

And effective needle drops. And a guidance-counselor scene that was way more affecting than I expected? Good stuff, is the point.

Two eps into the new "Carrie" miniseries. Love that it's finding ways to incorporate the found-document elements of the book. Also, great casting so far.

And that's just one example! But there are many, many signs.

And they've got another version of this same sign where the spellings are different. So they tried to one-shot this as an image multiple times and jumbo-printed different variations.

At a work outing to a Fall Fest carnival where fully 80% of the signage is AI-generated. Note the multiple attempts at "jalapeños" and the "beof" line.

That movie was straight-up bad. It expanded out a footnote detail to fully half (if not more) of the runtime!

I ordered an 8oz cup of straight half and half from the coffee shop, like a total psycho, so that I'd have cream to pour into my tea while we wait for the fridge to get fixed. Half and half and a breakfast sandwich. The baristas must think me insane.

Publications publish stupid shit all the time. If you post about them, people are gonna be more curious to look at them, not less. It could have just been another leaf in the stream, but people plucked it out and made it something of interest.

Speedrunning pitchforks. Though, as a big "we'll see" guy, I reserve doubt for how much of a reckoning there will actually be.
Passage from the New Yorker:

'But now Trump is losing a crucial part of that base-a rapid and unexpected decline best tracked in the portion of the electorate that expresses strong support for the President, which has dropped sharply to just thirteen per cent in recent surveys. "I feel like I was sold a bill of goods," one formerly solid Trump voter told the Times' Sabrina Tavernise. In another recent survey, sixty per cent of white likely voters without a college degree- a critical part of Trump's base-said that they disapproved of how he is handling the cost of living. MAGA isn't punishing the panicking politicians; it's joining the panic.

'And this, to me, is the real surprise of 2026: the President may be brought low this fall not by the Democrats who would crawl over broken glass to defeat him but by the very voters who sent him back to the White House in the first place. Iran, it seems, may finally have done what January 6th and all the rest of Trump's countless misdeeds could not. Has Donald Trump's lame-duck era already begun?'
