Everyone always talks about blockbuster, but my local rental was an old white house overlooking a lake that they emptied out and converted into a store. You paid at a bar in the dining room, and they kept all the tapes in the kitchen cupboards. The mortal kombat machine was in the front bay window.

While I wasn't one hundred percent happy with every narrative decision in Control Resonant (especially the way they did some returning characters so dirty), I am extremely happy with Dylan's narrative arc. I still love Jesse, but Dylan's journey carries much more human weight than hers did.

It really seems like you have to be extra careful now around anything with somewhat anime aesthetic, anything F2P, anything out of korea, and definitely anything that is all three of those, which is really too bad.

Skipping the cutscense in something like Eurotruck: Who cares? Not the point. Something like Life Is Strange: Why are you even here? In any JRPG: Unfortunate, but I get it. In games like HZD, Uncharted, CONTROL, The Witcher, etc: theoretically understand, but I will think you're a philistine

I hesitate to be that absolutist about it. People don't have to like all art, and games are comprised of more than their cutscenes. But when I'm watching someone play a game that I feel has outstanding storytelling, I do get upset if they hit skip or start looking at their phone.

Hard to judge cuz they're so multimedia. Some games are not that fun to play. Some movies are not as good as others. I won't get mad at someone for not finishing Weekend At Bernie's 2. But when it's a GOOD story game and the streamer skips or is NOT PAYING ATTENTION, I do kinda want to fight them.

Funny high school story: There was a time in one of my high school English classes when someone mentioned something about a urethra. Both are pretty good, but I prefer the first game in many ways (but know people who feel the opposite). It has cooler SPC writing and I enjoy the metroidvania style over the open map style. I also enjoy "what if we gave luke skywalker a gun" over the sequel's more "open world DmC" approach.

Is it good? I was considering grabbing it. It looked pretty hot and cinematic in the gameplay clips. The reviews looked mix, but I'm willing to chalk at least half of those up to "there is a woman character who talks and is a person".

In addition to Nintendo loyalty, millions of nostalgia purchases are basically guaranteed. They can probably tell this from pre-purchases. And different genres so fans don't necessarily overlap. The games as well as the platforms are of sufficiently different type to limit direct competition.

"University" was once primarily concerned with developing a philosophy of human value, but over time "the humanities" came to be regarded as worthless when you could be raking in cash teaching/learning how to be a cog. Politics to education, it's all been terraformed to suck on the same dark teet.

Similar post to Mike's but from a different angle. I love sticks and stones crafting type games but I feel like I'm kind over soulslikes forever, so I was completely ignoring Enshrouded. But a couple of friends made me jump into a game with them and I really liked it! Put in over 250 hrs
