I guarantee you that my dog will agree that I'm the one disturbing her sleep. She likes to grumble at me to let me know how much I'm annoying her. 😅

I managed to get the incidental random assignments grading done today, too, so I should be able to focus. Not going to work, either, so the hope is that I'll be able to get it done before evening. 60 is a lot of essays (well 70 because one class has two), but I don't have to leave detailed feedback.

I agree that we are a center-right country as we don't have a true liberal/leftist party and our two-party system is set up in a way that dilutes power of third parties. I don't agree it is the optimal setup.

What he means is that most people will not work at all, and the rest will still work 5 day weeks, and so there will be lots of one-income families and the work day will average out to 3 days a week if you take into account all the unemployed people.

I think it's tied to their egomania. The need to be seen as the best in the world. They need to be THE richest. THE most powerful. That's all that matters to them. It's narcissistic personality disorder. They already believe themselves superior to everyone. They want us to bow to that.

I hate that I'm going to have to move back to older methods of assessment that I don't think are as effective because it makes it harder for them to cheat on it. This just sucks. It just does. I have to spend all day today and tomorrow grading and my heart isn't in it because it's broken.

I hate that my choices are eliminate the very assignments that are most beneficial for my students because they're too easy to cheat on, or to give up my class time and make them do everything in class to force them to do it on their own, when that class time is necessary and valuable.

Not just that my students use it. That it's undermining my one goal of teaching (to create better critical thinkers). I hate that it actually makes them worse than if they had just not done the assignment at all. I hate that the answers it gives are just not good answers.

I'm so sad right now. Gave an assignment, simple one that would just take like 10 minutes asking for people to think about something and answer with their own reflections. 85% were exactly the same answers word for word. Another 14% were those answers in slightly different words. I hate AI.

Wouldn't enterovirus show up on a panel, though? I mean, if this is a case of doctors only testing for three things and shrugging, that seems weird to me. I'd think someone would be putting in a lab request for a panel to determine what it actually was if it was lasting so long.

I saw a political ad earlier today that accused the democrat of voting "for gender reassignment surgeries for children." I am so tired of outright lies that are designed to demonize and harm others in our society. We need to get to a point where this is unacceptable and will destroy your career.

How many years has he had to do this? And the best they could come up with so far is "removed subsidies so people don't get money to cover their ACA costs, then pay them all some random same amount of money later that will cover a tiny fraction of what those costs were directly instead.

Why should I deprive the other 13 of a really good assignment to apply what we're learning and improve a life skill because 2 cheated? But I do get really angry about it. Just do your own work.

I hate how annoyed it makes me. This isn't a hard assignment. It takes some time, but not even THAT long. I'm asking them to read and reflect on what they're reading. I know people who won't even assign things like this anymore because people will cheat, but I've graded 15 so far and 2 cheated.

What's really frustrating is that one of the questions it keeps getting wrong is really obviously wrong on the surface if you just read it and look at what I asked. It is answering a completely different question. So not only did they use it, they didn't even bother to read what it said.

Damn. I will say that this is not the case in my classes. I give very specific assignments that are looking for a lot of self reflection or specifically about stuff we went over in class or the text, so when people use it, they score less. In this case, the biggest issue is accuracy. It's way wrong.

Lol. Well, I had to go mark all of the things it got wrong (which is a ton) and they didn't do well, but I can't prove it's AI so I can't do much, but I did leave a warning saying this is their only chance I'm giving them and not to do it again.
