The only thing that will keep me in Repentance over Flash is 100% the mechanical depth and "game breaks" that indepth knowledge can allow because im a loser and like exponential growth

I will also always think Flash Isaac had some much better music and sound designs and I think visually its much stronger than rebirth and afterbirth, and a bit above Repentance which I think made the rebirth style much stronger just through the refined visuals and resprites

I haven't played a lot of Flash and basically none of base Rebirth but I definitely think Isaac should have stayed difficult as it was. I think base Repentance is the best Isaac has ever been, maybe early plus where it was pretty much only Isaac but also Online

Its kind of a wholy frustrating experience that constantly has deep lows. At the same time, it kind of has some really reaaaally high highs because of how some items, once you get them, makes everything you did before sooo much easier, i.e. producing RTGs for easy portable self generating energy.

Theres a handful of baubles you can get but most of them require upkeep, i.e. RF, mending, or a unique fuel and it dissuaded me from persuing them. Don't bother with building a base, you'll be building LARGE farms constantly to meet demands of crafts.

By the time a lot of mob drops are very useful for mid to late game, you have Mystical Agriculture to automate most of that process, and its really kinda simple. Mobs also never stop doing a substantial amount of damage.

limitation of the type of game that it is. So combat was just monotonous, slow, and overly difficult or annoying for no good reason. Combat doesn't do much of anything for the player other than hinder progress. Almost no drops are helpful UNLESS you specifically need them for a niche recipe.

You need to eat food to recover HP but foods give you literally no saturation unless it has a huge or VERY annoying crafting recipe. I never bothered with animals since the best early to mid/late game food recipe is probably the cinnamon oatmeal recipe since its fairly simple with a decent shank amt

Zombies are fine in open spaces but can overwhelm you quick if theres a few of them, especially if they have any infernal(?) modifiers. Skeletons are so fucking annoying because they shoot an arrow like every half second. Its absurd and they destroy shields in literal minutes after you craft them.

you find naturally occuring mending books or mending armor that won't explode. I had mending diamond armor until I made Superium Armor, which, as soon as you are able to craft it, literally as early as you can, craft it. Its super worth it

Remember those mobs? You're going to die. Literally HUNDREDS of times before you can stand a chance against anything more than like, 2 zombies. And one single skeleton. Your gear will break constantly and repairing it is too expensive. you likely just wont deal with armor until-

i eventually had to automate a lot of highly complex resources because i was sick of making it by hand. it was a chore and a resource hog seperately. I'd say its for masochists, but so is literally everything else.

Its a big grind, the whole pack, for resources but end game ramps it up big time. You can spend genuine weeks with the game in the background sometimes. Its a commitment for sure and it kinda kills momentum multiple times each time theres a big resource requirement jump.

It gets super laggy when you scale it up, (to the point I had to cheat to get my world back) so be sure to switch sooner than later. This modpack definitely requires a semibeefy computer. Late game grind when upscaled is just really slow.

Coal is probably one of the best mystical agriculture seeds to get in T1 or T2 since it fuels furnaces, can fuel power sources, and can be used in mana generation for Botania. I would recommend it. Automated users triumph the automated farmers when used with ranged collectors.

Mystical Agriculture quickly dwarfs all other forms of resource generation especially once you have some form of seed generation which is attainable in late Tier 3 if you grind for the materials, super worth it.

It leads to a lack of resources really early on until you have some form of automation, which is attainable decently early with the caveat that it requires a lot of RF power. A very fair trade off for automation that feels very rewarding.

The modpack itself includes harder recipes, increasing the size of recipes to 5x5 in midgame, then 7x7 and 9x9. A lot of recipes are 5x5 which early game makes a lot of recipes a sludge to get through, so you usually only have one of any processing block unless you grind for more.

Skeletons shoot arrows fast as shit and they and Zombies have lots of armor. Creepers are faster, there are support creepers, all in all it makes combat much harder... I'll touch on this later.

DDSS also makes a handful of changes to the core of Minecraft. Primarily, difficulty. Firstly, food (like in other modpacks) is SEVERELY nerfed and you need to make very complicated foods to fill your hunger quickly. Second, mobs are also much stronger and more capable.

Additional quests are also available for some specific parts of DDSS, like the Mystical Agriculture mod (a very integral aspect of lategame DDSS), finding lots of unique foods, Botania, Blood Magic, and so on. All the mods are actually integrated really tastefully and well.

This modpack, like many of its type as a tech focused modpack has quests that are seperated into Tiers, from 0 to 5, early game to late game. The Tiers are seperated usually by some milestone, first being access to unique crafting tables, the last being space.

I wanna talk a little about a Minecraft modpack I finished recently, Dungeons Dragons and Space Shuttles, from here caled DDSS. Its an adventure technology combination pack centered around exploring the world to make increasing complicated tech before creating basically a physical infinity.
