I know its been said before, but I'm just screaming into the void... 43 trees on #Ancestry all with wrong information. Some are citing sources that they have obviously not read, or else they would realise that being 81 at the time of birth kinda rules you out as being the right mum... #Genealogy

My partner was diagnosed with Lymphoma in yr 2 of the pandemic. It took 6 months to learn what was going on but given the circumstance, perhaps understandable. However, as soon as the C word was said, he had a consultant and started treatment within 3 weeks. Forever grateful to be in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I can remember where I was, who I was with and even what was said that day and I was in another country🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and directly not connected to the tragedy (except on a shared humanity level) We have a saying here…..he just opens his mouth and lets his tonsils rattle.

I first saw it when it came out from the back of a pickup at a drive thru In W.Virginia. For a young backpacking Scot 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 so many iconic themes in one night. Went hunting for a bookstore and a ‘feeling’ took me down a back street to find a bookshop and said book. Felt as if book was calling me ❤️😂

Suspected that 4xggd was married twice. I researched all evidence of his 2 families, tracing all 11 known children of 2 mothers across the globe. Today I found the final bit. Youngest daughter of wife 1 staying with son of her half-brother, youngest son of wife 2 - her "half-nephew" to be exact 🥳

I was 15 and didn’t get into the school debating team. Dad gave me lots of pearls of wisdom but the standout was ‘Nil desperandi, Illegitimi non carborundum’. Wrote it out and stuck it on my wall. Still have it somewhere 48 years later….❤️

Whoo Hoo 🤣I've discovered a 4 x great half-uncle was in the 1860 census for Philadelphia twice. I've heard it was possible but never seen it. He and his wife were staying with his son (and his family) on 5th June 1860 but back home with their grown-up daughter on 26th June.

My other tip, if the name is not too common or place not too large is to do a mini one-name study with pre-census records. Connecting all the villagers of that name can often help sort which cousins/second cousins (all called John after grandad) belong to which parent.

Also always view the source if you can and not a transcription. You never know who else is on the same census page. I found my 30yr brick wall almost next door but under an assumed name (he took his mother’s maiden name) as still married. I searched his ‘bidie-in’ rather than my missing 2xg uncle.

I’m wondering how to define Irish ancestry 😂 my own little bit came to Glasgow late 1830s but were only in Ireland for 200 years as that line were plantation settlers from Suffolk (thanks dna!). My OH though is Irish through and through back to Brian Boru (again dna). Does my stay count? 😂
