I've been reading this recently and I'm finding it to be an immensely valuable resource. Written in a UK context, this is a must for anyone in the UK who is working therapeutically with women of global majority and in particular Black women. 💙📚 📚💡 #therapists #therapybook #therapy

I have just finished this book and it was amazing! A deep dive into the works and impact of a long forgotten psychologist, Pierre Janet, who is the founder of the gold standard approach to trauma therapy today! I'm so happy to have read this! #booksky #trauma #dissociation #psychology #therapy

I support the #BDS movement as a #nonviolent method of trying to get Israel to stop the genocide and oppression of Palestinians. It's just a shame that some people are pressuring others to #boycott and #divest from non-BDS targets while claiming what they are doing is in line with the BDS movement.

💚 I'm loving this event 💚 more people need to be aware of how oppressive our mental health services are before insisting others access these services. Therapy is hugely beneficial when it's in a genuinely safe space. Our mental health services are not universally safe due to its oppressive nature

🧵I've just seen an image on Pinterest declaring that #Trauma is not your fault but healing is your choice - and I have feelings about this. First of all, this strikes me as an incredibly privileged take. Not everyone is able to engage in trauma healing at any given moment, even if they want to.

A vital message for us all. True #strength recognises that our #emotions need to be felt and understood. They are forms of internal communication and necessary for navigating through life. I've had a reminder this week of how important it is to take time to listen to what they're saying. Cont.

Taking some time for myself and reading this. The tendency of people, even supposed allies, to dismiss the possibility of asexuality or aromanticism and instead focus on the heterosexuality/homosexuality binary is something I get frustrated with. To see this frustration mirrored... See comments

A statement from the Board of Trustees of the Vagina Museum regarding trans inclusion.
The Vagina Museum Board of Trustees response to the UK Supreme Court ruling

In light of the UK Supreme Court ruling, the Board of Trustees of the Vagina Museum wish to express their unequivocal support of and solidarity with their trans staff, volunteers, community partners, visitors and wider audience.

From the outset, the Vagina Museum has always been trans inclusive. An important part of its mission around spreading knowledge and raising awareness of gynaecological anatomy and health has been to challenge normative assumptions around our bodies and how they may or may not be connected to experiences of gender, gender expression and broader sexuality.

In doing so, we highlight that sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation and other characteristics related to sexual identity exist in various different combinations and their relationship to one another is never clear cut. What is clear to us is that everyone, regardless of their body parts, are deserving of human rights, dignity and the power to identity as they wish to.
Just as we act as a forum for women’s reproductive health and rights from a feminist, inclusive and intersectional perspective; we will continue to advocate for trans+, non-binary and queer communities and rights.

We cannot talk about feminism unless our feminism includes trans folks.
We cannot talk about reproductive rights without trans rights.
We cannot advocate for human rights without trans rights.

The ruling comes amidst an increasingly frightening climate for trans people in the UK and globally. We will continue to abide by our values, and ensure that the Vagina Museum remains a space in which trans people are included, welcomed and celebrated.

In solidarity.

According to a new poll run by NSPCC, 1 in 6 adults couldn't identify the signs of emotional abuse. When adults are unable to identify emotional abuse, they are failing the children and young people in their lives. Conversations about abuse are important www.nspcc.org.uk/about-us/new...

Most UK adults believe emotional abuse in childhood can have a lasting psychological effect but one in six cannot spot the signs

Remember, we are part of nature. The reason "spending time with nature" is often helpful for us is because it taps into a very base knowing that we are connected with other beings. We are connected with them all and there's something soothing for our nervous systems to make contact with them 🌿🦆🦋🌖
