I'm beginning to suspect the key social lubricant in Tokyo isn't being polite and following the rules exactly, it's key moments of being just a little bit rude in specific ways and a very slight casual disdain. not in a mean-spirited way, but kind of the New York way

Playing deadlock with a trackball is an experience. Absolutely playable, unless it's vindicta. i'm glad there are at least a couple characters where you don't have to aim, like tf2 engineer and actual Hellboy

Surely there is nothing more grindy and mind numbing than training agility in OSRS

Road trips are something i miss the most about living in the states i think. Walking around the city has a similar vibe but there's something truly magic about a classic American road trip

Is there just a massive covid outbreak in tokyo right now? everybody is sneezing and coughing all over the place. on the train, in the shops, at the office, that's not good 😷

Almost missed the last train home today because of slow walkers. I immediately understood 90% of why people do what they do in stations here. Shinjuku station around midnight is something else. It's been so hot lately, you can see heat ripples on the train platform even at night. blegh

I need to find where the netrunner scene is here in JP, I KNOW there's gonna be people out here that still keep the game alive, where's green level clearance at

I want to stay up so I can have time for hobbies and relax, but i want to get some sleep so i can wake up and have coffee. This is clearly a good and healthy way to live, yes this is what humans are meant for

I really want to meet and connect with other music producers here in Japan, it's weirdly tricky to do. The music culture and community is so different from the states but there's SO much happening all the time here. Side note, the rhythm game ecosystem here is unbeatable

I've never seen Grave of the Fireflies, and I was going to watch Good Will Hunting (never seen that one either) and saw this pop up on netflix instead so I guess that's what I'm doing now. Somehow, I have not had it spoiled and know almost nothing about the plot. I'll check back in a couple hours

I want to write music again. It's been months, and between moving countries, many, many life changes, and downsizing my studio to a laptop and harddrive, i want to get back into it. I really miss it, and I'm really glad that I really miss it

Look, I know Japan is a safe country by most metrics but I stg the bikers on the sidewalk are trying to mow down anybody they can, it actually feels more dangerous sometimes than some shady parts of the states

If you had told me I would have to fill out a separate support form to ask for VOICEMAIL to be included in my monthly plan here in Japan, I would still have done it but I would have made slightly different jokes. Fax machines are understandable but voicemail as an add on and not autoamted? come on

I am rapidly changing my opinion on the Wheel of Time series. First book was fine, second book pretty solid so far but there's some stuff that's pushing this to "I actually have no idea if I'm enjoying this or not" territory

Maybe hot take, but the "sampled" orchestra sound I think is more about the writing than the samples. Totally possible for a live orchestra to sound like a poorly sampled mockup

I think one of my biggest achievements in life so far is unironically getting the midboss ending in disgaea 1 on my first playthrough, and then softlocking the game because i couldn't get enough money to heal my team to get clear any stages to get enough money to heal my team. Peak. Unmatched

There's so much bleh content out there these days I've just been reading instead. Went into the wheel of time series blind, so far the first book was fine but I'm not sure I want to read 13 more...then again, why not

I really would not mind some less interesting times for all of us. I think there have maybe been like 5 boring years across the planet in the last century, and not in a row, but we all deserve to be a bit bored and comfortable

Japanese summers truly are no joke. I've been in hotter temps, hotter temps with more humidity, way hotter temps with no humidity, and i can confidently say that something about the way the cities are built and daily life plays out here turbo amplifies the Summer heat

文字 = "mo-ji" 名曲 = "mei-kyoku" 名字 = "myou-ji" 名前 = "na-mae" 有名 = "yuu-me" pain, and it's the easy kanji. I don't even want to think about transitive-intranstive pairs

Had a Japanese lesson today, talking about goals and things. I mean it'd be cool to watch anime without subs and read the original manga, but honestly I just want to be able to set up utilities and make sure I get the right kind of dish soap without looking things up

Day to day Japanese is getting a lot better, regular survival stuff is mostly fine now EXCEPT for city hall. Everybody thinks they know what's up until you get keigo on top of rules you were supposed to look up online and 200 people angrily waiting on you. Some things you can't すいません your way out of
