Just another dumb peckerwood who's read too many books. Hermit-ish, semi professional curmudgeon, possible local cryptid.

One group of my ancestors believed that there were always 36 righteous people in the world, and that their god continued to allow the world to exist for their sakes. If they were right, then today and for perhaps at least a little while, there are only 35.

Let me be clear here....fuck Harry Potter. And double, nay triple fuck Joanne. You want books about a talented youngster from a humble background who goes to magic school (and actually grows and matures as a person)? Le Guin did it almost 30 years before Rowling and did it a damn sight better.

Annual bday/proof of life selfie. Last year was pretty shit, but had some decent and even great moments. "All hock-tooie no costume Black hoodie you can set your watch to Tall drink, daps like an air raid Radically detach with purveyors of the hair-brain" -Aesop Rock, Carpet Food

This stack (and a couple more) are all "not a bills" just showing how much the VA spent on me lately. Current total for the last two hospital visits is $47,940.98, which I very fortunately owe SFA of.

Movie night here at Crooked House...vittles/beverages courtesy of my homies at Ghost Runner Pizza. Films are John Woo's The Killer and Hard Boiled, and Ringo Lam's City on Fire.
This week's special at Ghost Runner: Refried beans, mexican cheese, ground beef, pickled jalapeño, roasted tomato salsa, chipotle sauce. The world's best pepperoni pizza. And no, I will not be accepting questions, comments or arguments. Some delicious boiled peanuts, a long with a can each of Allagash's Haunted House and Edmund's Oast Brewing Company Sour Cherry Pineapple beers, on top of the pizza boxes.

Just a reminder: The corporations and government have never given a shit about you, me or any of us. Everything we have, and what they're trying to take back, was paid for in blood. Don't forget Blair Mountain, Paint & Cabin Creek, the Haymarket & every other time folks had to stand up and fight.
The sign reads "The Battle of Blair Mountain.

In Aug. of 1921, 7000 striking miners led by Bill Blizzard met at Marmet for a march on Logan to organize the southern coalfields for the UMWA. Reaching Blair Mt. on Aug. 31, they were repelled by deputies and mine guards, under Sheriff Don Chafin, waiting in fortified positions. The five-day battle ended with the arrival of U. S. Army and Air Corps. UMWA organizing efforts in southern WV were halted until 1933."

And from the rear of the sleeve:
"THE BLOOD MOUNTAIN BLACK METAL CHOIR IS AN EXPLICITLY LEFTIST PROJECT. I BELIEVE IN UPROOTING FASCISM IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE, INCLUDING ART.

THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS ARE BEST KNOWN FOR ITS DEEP AND RICH FOLKLORE SURROUNDING MYTHICAL CREATURES AND OMINOUS HAPPENINGS THROUGHOUT ITS MAGICAL ROLLING HILLS. BUT THE TRUE STORY OF THE REGION IS MUCH LESS FANTASTICAL AND MUCH MORE DESPAIRING. THE REGION HAS A LONG AND PAINFUL HISTORY OF EXPLOITATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES, ABUSE OF LABOR RIGHTS, GENOCIDE OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES, ADDICTION, AND A PLAGUE OF PREDATORY EVANGELISM. THIS 5-TRACK DEMO SEEKS TO ADDRESS SOME OF THE PAINS OF THE PLACE I CALL HOME.

RECORDED DECEMBER 2022 THROUGH JANUARY 2023 SOMEWHERE IN THE HILLS.

Set a new speed record for downing two of these this morning. And while the unflavored one is terrible, still better than the alleged 'banana' ones.

In honor of the yearly bitching that always springs up online anymore about Memorial Day, allow me to say:

Fuck all that noise. Drink beers/tasty beverages, cook and eat all the unhealthy but delicious shit, buy cheap goods and be a silly goofball with your peoples.

Because the gods know that all the folks that already took their seats at the black table, would dearly fucking love to do any of that shit again one more time.

If you got people to be sad over, pour'em out a sip, then go have the fun they can't.

And if anybody gives you any guff over it, direct them my way.
