I painted some rocks. Now, back to painting the picture book!

Small rocks. One painted to look like a lightning bug. The second is a power-up Super Mario mushroom

I based the quilt in my (unfinished) painting on this beautiful quilt in the antique store's window. Much to my surprise my mother-in-law bought it for me for an early birthday present!! So sweet! I love it!!!

Two drawings, same artist, different paper! For an art class: Using paper that was affordable for the class, I found it frustrating that the paper didn't take many layers of chalk, that I couldn't get the detail I wanted, and it wasn't looking right.

I must admit I forget every time how long these paintings take. 😂 In my 1st attempt (2nd image), I got pretty far except that I wasn't sure what I was doing with the light. It just wasn't what I was going for. 🎨 All I need now is for the last quilt to be designed. 🪡It will be a surprise. 💥

I "take the day off" to visit my original illustrations from my picture book, ESCAPE TO PLAY and forthcoming ESCAPE TO TOWN. Of course, I had to parody Ferris Bueller's Day Off museum scene. 😂 Enjoy! "Drawn to Stories" at Gallery22 featuring Ohio #kidlit illustrators will go through the end of Feb!

A Happy clover mug for this cold St Patrick's Day. I love holidays. When I was in elementary school, the librarians had me draw the spine book identifiers: historical, romance, holiday, etc. I still love those simple symbols.
