Finally saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Excellent film. Went in blind, didn't even see the trailers. (And oddly enough, the movie started late and just skipped all the ads and trailers; just, "Silence your phones," the message from Tom Holland, and the movie started. I'd pay extra for that next time.

Was having a difficult time deciding on a Pride partner commander for my Niv-Mizzet, Dracoshenanigans deck, until I realized there was only one commander he would ever deign to partner with- himself.

Partner commanders, Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius, and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind. (They do not infinite combo with each other.)

More Star Wars: Legion tonight. Imagine, if you will, Darth Vader suddenly hearing Duel of the Fates start playing over his Imperial March, and turning to see Darth Maul launch himself at- and completely over Vader- to cut down Grand Moff Tarkin. I'd call that a spiritual victory, even if I lost.

Because I'm really nerdy, I took my son's Star Wars Legion Shadow Collective army to the LGS to learn how to play. I think I did pretty well for my first game.

Since I started replacing the proxies in my Brimaz #edh #mtg #commander deck with the actual cards, I figured it was time to upgrade the deck box. Given the number of tokens the deck produces, the Lorwyn DOMARU box, with its included dividers, was pretty much the obvious choice.

A Commander deck for Magic the Gathering with a new, fancy deck box, beside an empty, older deck box. Some cards are visible, including two full-art lands, the Commander (Brimaz, King of Oreskos), and several higher value rares and mythics.

MTG Arena just switched up the matchmaking in Brawl. It's now solely based on Commander weight, no MMR, no weight from your 99. This means you'll get to see a bunch of new commanders. This also means experienced players will be absolutely curb stomping players without a broad card base, like me. 😢

I decided to really go singleton in my #edh #commander #mtg deck, and made sure all of the lands- even the basics- were unique as well; different art on every one. It's a small upgrade, just cosmetic, but I like it. I'm going to need to remember to shuffle the hell out of it before I play it tonight

At times I feel burnt out on #mtg #mtgarena and then I have a game like this, where, looking at a very scary board across from me, I use a Fanatical Firebrand on one of my own tokens, dealing lethal face damage to my opponent without attacking. Makes the more frustrating games almost worth it.

Board state at end of game; opponent has five creatures with counters on them and an Overlord of the Balemurk impending. My board has three creatures, a token, and Boggart Mischief. Two of the creatures and Boggart Mischief deal damage to my opponent when a goblin dies. My opponent is at zero life. I am at 23. In my graveyard is a Fanatical Firebrand.
I used the Fanatical Firebrand on my own token to deal six points of damage to my opponent and win the match.

I need to stop getting new #edh #commander #mtg deck boxes... but they look so cool! Anyway, now my Auntie Ool deck has a box that matches my Exdeath deck. My other decks have oversized Commander cards, from the older precon decks, so they're staying in boxes that can fit those.

#edh #commander started with a turn 2 Pack Rat. Things just snowballed from there, since the discards let me pack my graveyard. Neo-Exdeath was a 28/3 by the time I exploded him with Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord for the win. #mtg I love these dry erase tokens, so much fun.

My Exdeath #edh #commander deck performed incredibly well and won the first game tonight with a Jarad, Polarized Lich Lord combo. We won't talk about the other two games, except to wonder why I put Avenger of Zendikar in, and that maybe my new, shiny Garruk, Cursed Huntsman will be a better fit.

Managed to win another game with my #edh #commander #mtg Niv-Mizzet deck. One player cast a spell that gave him a 2nd turn (at a cost), took out the other 2 players- but not me because I had a flying blocker- & then paid the cost (which was losing the game.) Leaving Niv-Mizzet the winner by default.

Post game board state. There is so much mana ramp. And yet, it was not enough to do everything I wanted to do.

Broke my rule to never again buy cardboard. Replaced a few proxies in my #Commander #edh #mtg deck. That Sphinx is the second most expensive card in the deck. At least now all but one of the gamechangers in the deck are real. Only things missing are a bunch of cheap older cards. And a Mystic Study.

#Commander #edh night again. The Nivix Guildmage was invaluable, first copying a Mizzum Mortars to take out a dangerous dragon, then, next turn, copying a top decked Fireball to hit the two remaining opponents, taking out one, and leaving the other in range for Niv to take down personally. #mtg

Another successful #DnD session. Puzzle solving in with some combat, to reach the final chamber where a Djinni challenged them to a battle to test if they could protect the Heart of the Storm, the control crystal for a powerful Gigas super-weapon. Now they have to deal w/the army outside the tower..

My son finally got to play the #edh #commander deck we rebuilt together. And the first player he took out of the game was me... But he had fun, and that's what matters. Still a few more things to add, like Garrick's Uprising, and getting Wonder back into the deck, but it's getting pretty solid. #mtg

Missed Commander Night at the FLGS #mtg but #mtga Mid-Week Magic is Brawl with a Lorwyn Commander. I happened to make a Doran, Beseiged by Time deck over the weekend, and it's cleaning up. 2cmc Formidable Speaker for Betor, Kin to All, who gets Swiftfoot Boots. I don't blame them for conceding.

Battlefield post victory, opponent was playing Brigid, Clachan's Heart, they have three creatures out, and tried to get a Mossborn Hydra on the battlefield (it is currently in their graveyard.) They had 15 life left when they conceded.
I have four non-token creatures, and two token creatures, they are all boosted by Doran's abilities, every one except the tokens can survive being blocked by any of their creatures.

Help, I seem to be addicted to math rocks. (In my defense, these cute little things are not only half the size of regular #D&D dice, they're also half the price.)

The #D&D session was a success! The party *finally* got their airship (and I played the Skies of Arcadia theme as they took off), then had a battle in the skies with a "Sky Manta" (which is absolutely not a reskinned Cloaker...) The barbarian almost fell, but the druid, as a giant eagle, caught her.
