We we done with summer now? Probably? Hopefully? 🥺

Hey thank god you get to pay an arm and a leg and be tied to an employer for that privilege! Can you imagine if there was some kind of system where it took about the same amount of time to get a new patient appt, but it was free? Perish the thought.

Love it! My son plays trombone and as I was reading your first paragraph I thought “yep he’s in the right section” 😂 He’ll fit right in when he gets to high school!

Also funny that mine is pretty tailored to momming. Very little about my own hobbies (even all the gaming collectibles stuff is mostly kids gifts), just “she buys clothes for her kids” and “every August she buys a ton of school supplies”

Glad they’re making note of the important stuff (I may have gotten snippy with Alexa when it tried to change the voice)

How does that even happen? You’d think there would be something in their system that would notice the Delivered city/state/zip does not match the shipping address and not allow them to complete the delivery

I only use the Following tab in Bsky so I don’t have that issue here but EVERY other social media platform, god forbid I pause for a second to sneeze or something and now it thinks I want only content about miniature Christmas villages

Yeah I rarely even buy prints and have yet to shell out for an original work but man this would be so cool to have. Wish I could swing it

Some of the stuff they’re blocked from on YouTube is particularly infuriating, we pay for premium as a family but my older kids don’t use their accounts because Google decided what they can and can’t watch instead of letting me have control as their parent.

110

Kate @geekate.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Plus if I have to create a burner account for them where we lie about their age then they now have an account that I’m not in control of. So for some parents that’s potentially creating a bigger liability. It’s also encouraging kids to lie about their age.

Wow! We measured 5.70” here in Bennington and I thought *that* was nuts!

010

Kate @geekate.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

omg we fight this crap constantly! My sons are 14 and 12 and there are plenty of rated R movies and mature games that are very comfortable letting them watch/play, but so many systems that HAVE PARENTAL CONTROLS won’t let me, the parent, say “yes I am approving this.”

During a flood, water levels and the rate at which the water is flowing can quickly change. Get to higher ground. Do not drive or walk into water. It only takes 6 inches of water to knock you off your feet. Stay informed by monitoring local media and checking weather.gov for the latest updates.

3 Steps for Flash Floods: 1. Get to higher ground (get out of the areas subject to flooding). 2. Do not drive into water (do NOT drive or walk into flooded areas. Okay I’ll have to eat crow here. I love rain and have loved all the rainy days, but this much rain in a short period is obviously dangerous and problematic for many. Hope everyone is able to stay safe tonight.

Kate @geekate.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Same. We’re kind of on a hill so it doesn’t look bad in front of the house, but my dog wouldn’t go to the bathroom so I thought maybe I’d drive him to a park where there’s grass near a covered area - got two blocks away before realizing it was not safe to be driving and turned around.

It was - I wondered if that was factor for my case, but I had friends in older homes at the time who also had sump pumps running often back then, it used to be a common topic of conversation. I haven’t heard anyone mention sump pumps in years, but I also don’t talk to people as often these days.

Kate @geekate.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Random rain question… for the first few years we lived in this house (2017) the sump pump ran often with heavy rains, but ever since then it’s been bone dry even with all the recent rain - has the ground just been THAT dry from the recent drought that we haven’t reached saturation yet?

I would’ve picked MK2 also (although I may have played UMK3 more), it just felt like *the game* at the time. I didn’t even think to put any fighting games in my 9. I really should have at least included Killer Instinct if only for the banger soundtrack, which I still listen to often

130

Kate @geekate.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Yeah it’s hard to pick just 9, and I’m missing a lot of favorite titles, but these all had a huge impact in some way.

Fair, and I do totally get calling it due to soggy conditions, just seemed like the daytime stuff would be more unpleasant than dangerous so the focus on safety seemed odd. That said, the Bellevue Band Festival is Sat afternoon/night so if lightning is likely I’m curious how they’ll handle it

Kate @geekate.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

So…I mean, have we gotten to the point where we’re so afraid of any kind of precipitation that we’re preemptively canceling everything? I’m no meteorologist but looking at the forecast for Saturday I’m struggling to make sense of this. Like yes it’ll be rainy, but… @serwewx.bsky.social thoughts?
