They use the same pictogram for the coati on road signs for "animals crossing" - and I still find it hard to not read those as "brachiosaurus crossing" 🦕

A don't feed the coatis sign. In reality it's a coati looking left with its tail up. But one could also interpret the tail as a head, turning it into a long necked dinosaur

Some quick photos from our visits to Coyoacán and Xochimilco yesterday. As a lapsed biologist it's so cool to see axolotls up close. I remember when their gigantic genome (~10x the size of the human one) was published in 2018 as a big technical achievement.

We went to the Museo en Antropología in CDMX today, and these two pieces were my favorite exhibits – for reaching through time into a shared humanity that continues today. A dog happily stealing a cob of corn and a figurine embodying the shrug emoji, somewhere between 300 BCE and 200 CE.

My photo library sending a reminder of a visit to the BGI offices in Shenzhen 11 years ago - and seeing the most hilarious way of presenting seed collections I've ever seen.

These two now benefit from "dog training" – aka being fed copious amounts of sausage for good behavior – with an instructor twice a week. So now they need to recover/digest it by laying in the sun.
