This is why I just cannot roll the dice on kids. By EVERY ACCOUNT I was a very easy baby and kid. My elderly aunt (who used to put belt to ASS on 4 generations of us) said I was the only kid she NEVER even had to yell at. So I know the universe would spin the block on me lmao

The best way I could describe this to the care team when they pulled me out of the room is that my mom wants me or my aunt ONLY to literally spoon feed her food. She doesn't want a caregiver who will advocate for her well-being and help her to maintain her independence. She wants a slave.

20 years ago if I explained to healthcare staff my mom is a manipulative person who will sacrifice her own health as a 'fuck you' to us, they wouldnt have believed me. Now, there is a TEAM of people who deal with this kind of thing to help families make EFFECTIVE care plans. I could weep.

Around this time of year would be when my nonprofit sponsors the Christmas party for the women incarcerated at Orleans Parish Prison but I don't think so this year. The new sheriff refused to ever meet me for our menstrual product donation program OR this. We've done that party for years. It sucks.

I think if God wanted me to have kids, he wouldnt make the process as hard as it would be for me. I would have to get off ALL my medications and let that fetus wreak HAVOC on my body. I'd have no care network. No idea about my bio father or his health history so Idk what I'd be passing onto them.

It's also scary not knowing what the future is going to hold for me as a childfree woman. But what I do know is that my future is entirely mine. AND that I'm not alone. I know ALOT of people who are childfree in their late 30s, 40s, 50s. And they are so happy.

The wavering in my adulthood (mainly the last 3 years) comes from 1) fear of getting older with no one to advocate for me and 2) feeling abnormal. My entire life has been so abnormal that I felt like if I had kids it would be the one normal thing in my life.

I remember the moment so clearly in my mind when I knew I didnt wanna have kids. I was 9 years old playing dolls in my room all by myself. And it just hit me like a voice inside me booming. Like a bolt of knowledge out of nowhere. And I have never felt different. I still remember the feeling.

I think Im mature and healed enough to admit that both my abusive childhood AND having to spend my childhood caregiving for my parents is why I don't want children. Im so grateful to everyone at this hospital. In a very kind, polite, generous, and protective way, I had to explain to the doctor that my mother is a real cunt and will tell them whatever to get outta here. She immediately mobilizes the support team for ME and asked me what I need.

My mama has decided she doesnt wanna drive or cook anymore. But fired all the home health aides I hired to help her. She wants me to be her 24/7 full time caregiver by myself without saying it. And that is not only absurd but not an option. Idk anybody who has that kind of option in this economy.
