Another evening at the old bedroom. Near the spot Tigger (2011-2026) used to love snuggling up at night. Before everything. I’m alone tonight. Swiping through the thousands of photos. Missing his furry warmth. And there’s always a moment when tears begin to […] [Original post on woof.group]

Two framed black and white paintings under some nick necks. The paintings each show a naked, kneeling figures in mirroring poses—one cis man and the other cis woman—looking towards each other. The man has a dangling key on his hand, whereas the woman has a lock.

I quite enjoy how the dad looked at Jeff Koons’s “Woman in Tub” (1988). #artinstitutechicago

Inside the brightly-lit gallery at the Art Institute’s Modern Wing, a middle-aged suburban dad with a baseball hat squints suspiciously at highbrow contemporary art, silently wondering if the naked porcelain lady is safe for his teenage boy, who’s walking in front of him and pretending not seeing the naked sculpture.

When art imitates art. A remarkably self-aware installation at the Art Institute of Chicago’s Gallery 218. Three works collectively stage what Renaissance theorists called the paragone, the competition between painting and sculpture, and answer it with deliberate […] [Original post on woof.group]

A large grisaille oil on canvas shows the INRI inscription floats above the limp body of Christ; angels descend through golden light; Mary’s veil billows with grief.

The photo shows two versions of a Deposition: on the left, a freestanding white marble relief by Antonio d’Este after a model by Antonio Canova (c. 1800–1837). On the right, Deposition by Bernardino Nocchi (Italian, 1741–1812), dated 1800, also “after Antonio Canova”.

The photo shows a framed relief-like painting — creamy, nearly sculptural in tone — hanging like an antique marble. The wall label identifies it as The Vestal Virgins, attributed to Jean-Siméon Chardin (French, 1699–1779), c. 1760–70, oil on stone. Six veiled women occupy a classical interior with columns and a flaming altar; one seated figure receives offerings.

Oh I just realized that the pic I uploaded was not the one I initially got… “PAUSE THE TV. FIND YOUR NEW MANTRA. The more I follow commands, the beefier I get.” This is actually more interesting than my other result, which seems to be truistic. “The longer I stay locked, the more I submit.”

PAUSE THE TV.

Enough of this administration’s horse crap! Great turn out at today’s #NoKings protest in our town.

Two activists in striking leather gear participate in outdoor protest on brick plaza. Standing figure wears black leather horse hood with pointed ears, holding political protest signs. Seated companion sports protest signs against medicare cuts. Sunny afternoon setting with trees and fellow protesters visible in background holding various signs including "RESIST" messaging.

Trump’s new national security strategy (NSPM-7) targets ideas like “anti-capitalism, anti-Christianity…extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality…before they result in […] [Original post on woof.group]

Screenshot of NSPM-7 from the White House website

“Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality. As described in the Order of September 22, 2025 (Designating Antifa as a Domestic Terrorist Organization), the groups and entities that perpetuate this extremism have created a movement that embraces and elevates violence to achieve policy outcomes, including justifying additional assassinations. For example, Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin engraved the bullets used in the murder with so-called "anti-fascist" rhetoric.
The United States requires a national strategy to investigate and disrupt networks, entities, and organizations that foment political violence so that law enforcement can intervene in criminal conspiracies before they result in violent political acts. Through this comprehensive strategy, law enforcement will disband and uproot networks, entities, and organizations that promote organized violence, violent intimidation, conspiracies against rights, and other efforts to disrupt the functioning of a democratic society.”
