For this fifth episode I picked something which was the main part of a fun Cruise I went on earlier this year. For my birthday this year, I sailed on a short, 4-day Caribbean Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas, which is the topic of this episode. I mainly sailed to get kicked up to Diamond Status, as I was 4 tier points short, but the sailing was really nice, and I greatly enjoyed it. I will also go over the Crown and Anchor Club, which is Royal’s Loyalty Program. This Episode looks at the Sovereign Citizen movement. While this is most prevalent in the United States, it does also occasionally occur in other countries, most notably Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United Kingdom although these are hardly the only places this concept pops up. As this is a program looking at the US Constitution, we will mainly be looking at this movement in the United States. What is a Sovereign Citizen? Basically, these individuals have a pseudolegal belief that somehow, they are not subject to the jurisdiction of any Country or State unless they explicitly consent to them.

For this fourth episode I picked a location I visited a few years ago in conjunction with another trip. This was Reykjavik, and it is a beautiful city, and also very friendly. If you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ Community it is also a very welcoming city. Throughout this presentation are some Icelandic words, and Icelandic is not a native tongue for me, so I am apologizing in advance to any Icelanders who listen to this and hear me mispronouncing words. I will try my absolute best to get the right, or as close to right as possible. The Music for this Episode is Icelandic Folk Music, although two songs come from movices, one being Ronja The Robbers Daughter, and theother being the Book of Bobba Fett as they had a very viking feel to them

For this third episode I picked one of my past destinations. I have actually been to this location three times now and loved every trip. The destination in question is Tokyo, Japan. A mentioned, I have been here a few times, and it is also a great location to head out into other areas in Japan, You can also check out my https://www.foratravel.com/advisor/martin-lessem or the new website for https://www.globetrottingwithlynx.com for any help in booking your own amazing travel adventures! Today we will be looking at the Petition of Right from England. To understand it, we will need to first take a brief look at England under both James I and mainly, his son, Charles I. We will look at the cuases of the English Civil War, which will help us understand how the Petition of Right led directly to it. As always, we will then look at how this influenced our own Constitution here in the United States. This is a longer Episode, but one well worth understanding if you want a better grasp of how the Third, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments came about.

S2E2 - Costa Maya-Cozumel-Roatan

This is the Season Finale for the First Season of Power & Politics: Unraveling History. It has been a busy year, from an academic perspective for me as I finished my Masters Degree in political Science, and politically with everything going on in the United States. This Episode looks back at the first Season and gives you a small taste of what is coming in the second Season. Season two is a go and starts in August!

This Episode takes a look at the city of Nassau in the Bahamas. It looks at some of the history of the city and also some of the sights which are worth a visit. This city is a smaller one, so much of what is recommended for the Bahamas is Beaches and Watersports, but this is by no means a reason not to visit this city. This Episode, our 22nd (Yes, i know I say 21st in the Episode itself, but it is our 22nd), looks at Copenhagen, the Capital City of Denmark. Today we will be looking at something a little different, specifically, how the United States, and the seeds of modern-day democracy from here, influenced the French Revolution, and as such, this episode will be a little shorter than some of the others. We will look at three of the main men who influenced the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen of 1789, the Marquis de Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Paine.

For this twenty-first episode I picked something which is just a location with a very fun meaning for me. In 2019 I took a trip to Dublin in Ireland for the 77th World Science Fiction Convention, and also to help fulfil a bucket list item for my mother. This episode of the podcast will look at Ireland. Welcome to Globetrotting with Lynx! For this twentieth episode I picked something which is not from a recent trip, but one I did back in 2019. I took a cruise to Havana, Cuba. This was during Trump’s first term, and he had placed a travel ban on Cuba, but the cruises which were sold the previous year, were still allowed to sail. This episode will be a bit shorter as it has been six years since I was there, but if the chance arises, I would go back in a heartbeat. Today we will be examining the Impeachment Clause in the Constitution and the 25th Amendment with an eye toward what can realistically happen in the United States over the next two and a half years. This is especially important these days as I have seen so many misconceptions about both of these two Constitutional concepts floating around the internet. The memes which pop up regarding impeachment are especially headache inducing.

For this nineteenth episode we will be taking a look at the Carnival Corporation & plc. This is a large Cruise group with eight different brands. We will look at all the brands and give a brief overview of the style of each of these brands. Some, such as Princess, may get a separate episode in the future looking solely at that line. This episode I picked a location I was very fortunate to visit and had an amazing time there. Back in 2020, I went to Tunisia for a LARP, or Live Action Role Play, called Expedition Sahara. Before the LARP, I spent 3 days touring the country with a guide, a driver, a good friend, and my Ex. This episode of the podcast will look at this trip to Tunisia. I will give you my Impressions of this country and the sites you should see while you are there.. Today we will be looking at the Court of the Star Chamber under the Tudors and Stuarts mainly, and how the abuses there led us to what we have in our Constitution now with the protections of Rights, especially in the Bill of Rights. Sometimes it is not a specific law or document that we need to look at to understand the United States Constitution, but a historical concept or event. These can be just as influential as documents for very similar reasons. One of these concepts which clearly showed influence on the United States Constitution, was the now infamous Court of the Star Chamber which rose to prominence under the Plantagenet and Tudor dynasties but was most ferociously wielded by the Stuarts.

This episode takes a look at the the cities of Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand. These cities were great fun to visit, and great for both relaxing and fascinating excursions. In this, the Eighth Episode of Power & Politics: Unraveling History, we will be looking at Impeachment, and how it came about through the history of Edward III and the Hundred Years War. Actions during that conflict, led to the Impeachment of William Latimer, 4th Baron Latimer, and is one of the earliest recorded Impeachments. To fully understand them, we will look the history surrounding this instance, and how the concepts raised influenced the US Constitution.

This episode is a look at the Royal Caribbean Group, and their three lines, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea. This thirteenth Episode looks at another city in England, Cambridge. It is a classic city dating back to just before Roman times, and yet a contemproary one as well. As you walk through this city you can feel both the medieval and tudor influences, and feel the history seeping off the buildings, especially near the University of Cambridge. It is a great city to visit, especially in the spring, summer and fall, although you can visit it any time of year. This twelfth Episode looks at one of my favorite cities, London. It is an ancient city, and yet a modern one. This eleventh Episode looks at the Cities of Aventura and Miami. These are nice locations to visit, especially in the late fall, winter, and early spring, and I always enjoy my time there. In this, the Sixth episode of Power & Politics: Uraveling History, we look at the History behind Magna Carta. From the founding of "modern" England in 1066 through the reign of King John, to 1215 when Magna Carta became a thing. We will look at how this document influenced the US Constitution, and how it still holds influence today. Understanding the History which influenced the Framers is important, so this episode focuses on that history.

This tenth Episode looks at the City of Minneapolis. It is a nice location to visit, and I have a great deal of fondness for it, having both many friends there, and considering moving there in the near future, depending on how some other things play out. It is a truely midwestern City, and most of its modern history began in the 1800s.
