This blind failure of referee probably lost the Thorns the game by *not watching* or being aware of the play. Twice players were offsides by a very obvious amount and he missed it — while his head was turned away from the pitch.

Man, that has to be the hardest gig! As a far too frequent user of some of those things, I shudder at the complexity in satisfying high standards in that milieu. I am such a bitch when stuck in a tube for 10+ hours and how the heck do you QA. Good luck!

Actively heated blanket for prehospital trauma patients. A bit more involved at this stage than safe for gen pop emergency blanket usage. While it’s relatively low power, this version is optimized for exsanguinated patients. We will do a less powerful, no doc required version next year.

It truly will be transformational. My personal belief is this variant is too big, but the Customer gets what they want. We’re doing one that’s much more user friendly sized and less powerful for use by those of us who aren’t vascular surgeons*.

Hypothermia is the leading cause of death to trauma patients in the prehospital space these days. Hypothermia. Not the trauma: it’s the cold from shock. We’re fixing it. I can’t wait for this to get out into the world next month!

Both companies have been extraordinarily reticent to export the best carbon stuff. The width of the carbon materials is narrower than US & EU fabrics, which does make a huge difference in cost. They’re much happier exporting membranes and some of the other technical textiles.

Graham Williams @gcfw.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
Teijin and Toyobo both produce activated carbon CBRN textiles in Japan as well as membranes and the other components. Toyobo’s Korean operation in that space is a cut out for easier export. Most of the production is in small specialty operations. The quality of the fabrics is amazing.

Japan is the world leader in creating the activated carbon CBRN materials required for most outfits. They are remarkable textiles.

The statutes are very clear Landry does not have the authority to do this. Not just that the law is only intended to be used for things like hurricanes or terrorist attacks, its terms are explicitly defined in such a way that it only applies in such genuine "disaster" circumstances.
