🌍 On World Conservation Day: wildlife and cultural heritage exist side by side and need management that supports both. 📖 Our latest blog from BioRes working in Tama, Ethiopia, shows how we're protecting not just biodiversity, but knowledge and practices built up over generations: shorturl.at/UViN6

🌿Good evidence doesn’t always speak for itself. What actually helps policymakers engage with evidence - and what gets in the way? 📘Our new toolkit 'From Evidence to Engagement', built from grantee insights, explores exactly that. 🔗https://shorturl.at/eKlMU #PolicyEngagement #ResearchImpact #GCBC
1.	From Evidence to Engagement: A Toolkit for Working with Policymakers

2. Start Where You Are
Engagement doesn’t require finished results or formal influence goals - early engagement builds trust, aligns research with needs, and supports future uptake when timed to local context and readiness.

Trust, Relationships, and Practice
Engagement works best through ongoing relationships built on trust, regular contact, informal exchange, and seeing work on the ground.
There Is No Single Pathway
There is no single route into policy engagement - projects connect through multiple entry points, with stronger impact when aligned with existing decisions and local systems.

🌍 As the UK hosts #IPBES12 in Manchester, Business and Finance Day puts the spotlight on the private sector’s role in accelerating #NaturePositive outcomes. 🔑But mobilising capital is only the first step. Real impact depends on who holds power, where finance flows, and how it’s used, by whom.
The inset image shows Terita Deare, Plan Vivo and Putra from YIARI on location in West Kalimantan. The quote by Terita reads 'closing the climate and nature funding gap depends on practical pathways for the private sector to invest in a nature-positive future – one that incentivises private finance and channels it directly to the communities and landscapes that need it most.'

🌿 Working with Indigenous Peoples & local communities: 8 GCBC Research Lessons 📄Read the full article: lnkd.in/edTD3RzK Effective conservation & sustainable development relies on inclusive research with IPLCs built on trust, shared benefit, and respect for Indigenous knowledge. #InclusiveResearch

Image says: Working with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs): 8 Lessons from GCBC Research
Image says: 1.	Early and Continued Engagement

Meaningful partnerships with IPLCs work best when engagement starts early, continues throughout the research, and is built on long-term relationships, ongoing dialogue, and shared evaluation.
2.	Community-Led Research Framing
Research is most effective when IPLCs help co-create the research questions from the outset, ensuring agendas align with their own priorities, knowledge, and ways of working.
