Gaza | The scale of human suffering and the stripping of human dignity have long exceeded every acceptable standard, both legal and moral. This tragedy must end now. Mirjana Spoljaric, ICRC President: ms.spr.ly/63327sGyPt
"There is no excuse for what’s happening in Gaza.

This tragedy must end now, immediately and decisively.

Every political hesitation, every attempt at justification of the horrors being committed under international watch, will forever be judged as a collective failure to preserve humanity in war.”

We are alarmed by calls to bring back anti-personnel #mines. Over 80% of mine victims are civilians. Rolling back the ban would undo decades of efforts to better protect civilians. With tensions rising, we call on states to uphold IHL and work toward a mine-free world: www.icrc.org/en/news-rele...

As world leaders gather at #MunichSecuityConference, our president warns of the mounting costs of war and the security risks that could follow if #IHL is not better respected ➡️ ms.spr.ly/63324Uquk8
“The magnitude of destruction we see in today’s conflict zones is stretching international systems to their breaking point.”

The human cost is immeasurable, and the rebuilding costs astronomical. The threat of economic fallout extends far beyond conflict zones and risks disrupting global markets and undermining stability worldwide.

Conflict is the greatest driver of humanitarian needs, and if we are to reduce aid dependency and prevent the reversal of development gains,
we must mitigate the human impact of conflict—starting with a stronger commitment to upholding the rules of war.”

📍 Israel and the Occupied Territories: More families reunited as ICRC completes third stage of release operations. Read more: ms.spr.ly/63320UV7cg
Today we facilitated the third stage of release operations, reuniting more families. | "We are relieved that more people have been safely returned home. However, today’s conditions underscore the importance of all parties upholding their agreements and ensuring operations take place in a safe and dignified manner. The security of these operations must be assured, and we urge for improvements in future operations.”

📍 Democratic Republic of Congo | We condemn the attacks that left many civilians in North Kivu wounded or dead. Since the start of 2025, we have treated more than 600 wounded and injured people, of which around half were civilians (mostly women & children). Read more: www.icrc.org/en/news-rele...
We condemn the attacks that left many civilians in North Kivu wounded or dead.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is alarmed by the devastating impact on the civilian population of ongoing armed clashes in and around Goma.

Of special concern is the massive influx of people wounded by firearms and explosive weapons into
ICRC-supported facilities, in particular the CBCA
Ndosho Hospital in Goma.

📍 Israel and the Occupied Territories | We have completed the second phase of release operations, reuniting more families. For more details, please see our operational update: ms.spr.ly/63322UOCdm
Today, we facilitated the release and transfer of four hostages out of Gaza and to Israeli authorities. We also facilitated the release and transfer of 128 detainees from Israeli places of detention to Gaza and the West Bank in the second phase of an ongoing humanitarian operation. During these releases, our priority is the safe transfer of those involved. This is a responsibility we take extremely seriously.

Today, on the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation, we honor the millions who suffered and perished in the Holocaust. As we reflect on this solemn day, we renew our commitment to remember them and defend the dignity & humanity of all—without exception. Read more: www.icrc.org/en/news-rele...
Today, on the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation, we honor the millions who suffered and perished in the Holocaust.

For over 1.5 million people—mostly Jews—Auschwitz was the end of an unimaginable ordeal.

For the International Committee of the Red Cross,
it marks its greatest failure in its history, a failure to speak out and protect the millions of people who were subjected to Nazi persecution and genocide.

As we reflect on this solemn day, let us renew our commitment to preserve the memory of Holocaust victims and survivors and to be steadfast in building a world where the dignity and humanity of every individual are not only recognized but fiercely defended—without exception, without hesitation, and without compromise.
