Ronell, my dive guide, spotted a massive abandoned fishing net — easily over 100 meters — clinging to rocks and part of the reef, with scores of dead and dying fish tangled inside.

We had to get the net to the surface, to stop this senseless killing machine.

Found a pair of huge Hinged Shrimpfish (Aeoliscus strigatus). The first ones in this video are typical size 10-15cm. The last two were over 20cm! And they allowed me a nice close up.

The Greater Blue Ringed Octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulata) is one of the most deadly animals on the planet. This tiny being could deliver in one painless bite enough venom to kill 26 adult humans. So when this little guy was swimming right at me I was extra careful. Wouldn’t you be? #octopus #deadly

More lionfish gorgeousness in their natural habitat (which I have to mention because Caribbean divers are rightly irked by them as invasives)

Sometimes you turn around underwater and your mind is just blown. This huge Crown Jellyfish (Cephea cephea) appeared out of nowhere. I didn’t know how bad its sting could be so I maintained a healthy distance.
