This weekend was one of the best derby tournaments I've ever had the privilege to be a part of. I'm so proud of Denver B for winning the first upset in the first game and beating the ratio in our other two and so so proud of Denver A for taking gold. Happy and exhausted.

Playing through injury is bad, and listening to doctors is good. Sometimes people in derby go a little too hard on the "even if your doctor says it's fine, if you ever do anything athletic with mild discomfort you are a danger to yourself and others and a terrible person" side and it isn't helpful.

In basic courses toward my gender studies BA 15 years ago, I learned gender has biological implications and sex has cultural implications and the two are socially intertwined. I'm tired of cis allies pretending that separating the two in all cases is the answer even when it gets to transphobia.

Knee surgery recovery is going well! Relearning walking mechanics is a trip (feels like life size qwop) and something about the meniscectomy feels like there is a marble inside the back of my knee that if I bend it "catches"on painfully but otherwise the pain is not too bad!
