Yup, yup, plant care can help with anxiety or mental health, just 'cause it can make us feel productive and helpful, much in the same way as helping other people. But less stressful if you ask me... don't need to worry about the social fuss. Some plants are more finnicky than others. The one I

"You say something like that, but then go on to wax poetic about the rest of outer space... I mean, it's not like I've got any first-hand experience with what's out there, nor do a lot of humans, and I might sound way too callous for saying this, but is just like.. y'know, just rocks and space out -

Messier 27, The Dumbbell Nebula (also known as the Apple Core Nebula). Single 120 sec exposure. Shot taken on 2025-06-15 from my backyard. Before the clouds. Telescope : William Optics Pleiades 111 Camera : ZWO ASI 2600 Total exposure: 1 x 120 sec #Astrophotography #Space #DeepSpace #Astronomy
The Dumbbell Nebula (also known as the Apple Core Nebula, Messier 27, and NGC 6853) is a planetary nebula (nebulosity surrounding a white dwarf) in the constellation Vulpecula, at a distance of about 1360 light-years.[1] It was the first such nebula to be discovered, by Charles Messier in 1764. At its brightness of visual magnitude 7.5 and diameter of about 8 arcminutes, it is easily visible in binoculars[4] and is a popular observing target in amateur telescopes.

The Dumbbell Nebula appears shaped like a prolate spheroid and is viewed from our perspective along the plane of its equator. In 1992, Moreno-Corral et al. computed that its rate of expansion angularly was, viewed from our distance, no more than 2.3 arcseconds (″) per century. From this, an upper limit to the age of 14,600 years may be determined. In 1970, Bohuski, Smith, and Weedman found an expansion velocity of 31 km/s. Given its semi-minor axis radius of 1.01 ly, this implies that the kinematic age of the nebula is 9,800 years.[

We see the Veil Nebula, a small part of a vast ancient remnant of an exploded star, still glowing with colorful emissions from hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur atoms. #astronomy #astroedu #astrophotography #space #spaceimages #spacephotos #astroimages #NASA #sciencephotos
This colorful region of glowing gas, often called the Veil Nebula, is part of the large, old supernova remnant called the Cygnus Loop. A massive star exploded some 10-20 thousand years ago and the remnant is still glowing in places. Astronomers have determined that oxygen, sulfur, and hydrogen atoms are contributing to the glow.

#TourTheUniverse with us 🔭 🌈 Today's stop takes you to the Pillars of Creation, seen in near-infrared-light by the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope. 🐣 This iconic region hosts young stars that have barely burst from their dusty cocoons. Discover more 👉 www.esa.int/Science_Expl...
This vertical image has layers of semi-opaque rusty red coloured gas and dust that starts at the bottom left and goes toward the top right. There are three prominent pillars rising toward the top right. The left pillar is the largest and widest. The peaks of the second and third pillars are set off in darker shades of brown and have red outlines.

Astronomers have created a galactic masterpiece! Using our VLT, they observed the Sculptor Galaxy in thousands of colours simultaneously 🌈 The more shades of colour there are in an image of a galaxy, the more we can learn about its inner workings. Read more: www.eso.org/public/news/... 🔭 🧪 ☄️
A spiral galaxy, showing a thousand different colours that indicate the regions of different stars, gas and dust. The centre of the galaxy has more golden and orange light, while the outer edges fade into a deep blue that further fades into the black of the universe. Speckled across the galaxy are portions of bright pink light, along with patches of brown and black.
