I would have liked to see them address some of the other holes, but you can't say they didn't meaningfully improve the bullpen. It's honestly just somewhat nice to see them as buyers with other teams around them like the Marlins and Nats selling.

Lost in the last two games is the fact that this Reds team is absolutely wretched. Just a dreadful baseball team.

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

This Marinaccio guy looks like he's going to fit into this bullpen perfectly.

220

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I'm not at all a blame the manager guy, but intentionally walking the bases loaded for a dude that never has any idea where the ball is going is definitely a choice.

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

The Pirates will be 29 and 17 in day games if they hold on to win today. Not entirely sure what to make of that but it’s not insignificant.

051

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

Didn't Dennis Santana throw a punch at a Yankees fan from the bullpen last season? He comes to New York and loses his mind for some reason.

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

If the Pirates can’t win this season with every position player on the baseball team in god mode, it isn’t happening in my lifetime.

150

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Just dropping in to inform you that it might not, after all, be coming home.

010

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 28/06/2026

The Pirates are basically getting career years from almost every single position player and are somehow one game under .500. It is mind blowing stuff.

050

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 28/06/2026

I’ve been in Philly coaching my team in a shootout this weekend and it sounds like I’ve missed some seriously Piratey baseball.

020

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 19/06/2026

OK that response was absolutely electric. Good on you Seattle.

020

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

Messi. The absolute best to ever do it.

020

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 15/06/2026

The Paul Skenes discussions are super interesting. He's clearly not been as effective in preventing runs, but his K/9 is up and his BB/9 is down from last season, as is his WHIP. His hard hit % is down too. Other than allowing more HRs, it is tough to pinpoint any big issues.

020

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

Man they simply can't handle Pulisic 1 v 1 at all so far.

010

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

Oh my dear word Jedi what a strike!

010

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 26/05/2026

Rooney just pooped on the potty for the first time and if this sticks it will go down as one of the greatest days of my adult life.

030

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 25/05/2026

The MLB season is so long that you are bound to have streaks in both directions, but it's critical for teams like the Pirates to take care of teams that are clearly scuffling like the Cubs are right now. They look absolutely hapless.

020

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

Paul Skenes is just so ridiculously good. He’s already prime Gooden and Pedro level good but the consistency and durability suggest the possibility of historical greatness. It will be an absolute failure if they can’t surround him with enough talent to win meaningfully.

0110

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 11/05/2026

I think the most frustrating part of that suck fest was not scoring a run against Ryan Borucki.

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 23/04/2026

I have no interest whatsoever in the NFL Draft but it’s been a fun week and I’m happy that the city gets to show off a bit. I’ve always thought that Pittsburgh is a city that you need to experience in person to really appreciate. I hope it shines brightly the next three days.

Easy choice for today’s wardrobe for Masters Sunday. RIP Scrap Iron. Say hello to Pops and the Cobra up there for us.

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 04/04/2026

I’m honestly bewildered at how ridiculous the MLB ball-strike challenge system is. We have the technology to get the calls correctly at all times, but we’ll only use it when people get upset.

050

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 31/03/2026

I'm now a plus six. This is fun!

010

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 31/03/2026

I put the kids to bed and have watched a total of four minutes of this game. I’m a plus three. You’re welcome.

010

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

And, as always, a giant F you to Scott Barnes, the main villain in the entire Pitt basketball story.

030

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

The good news is that I actually get to watch this year's tournament with a rooting interest with Miami and TCU involved.

020

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

At least I don't have to waste time next year on the basketball program either I guess.

140

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

I discussed this with @adamgretz.bsky.social but I still think Laila Edwards is the most gifted female hockey player I've ever seen. Everything she does looks so easy it reminds me of watching Mario when he was first in Pittsburgh.

031

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 14/02/2026

Jeremy Swayman is doing his best “Tristan Jarry in the playoffs” impression. Woof.

020

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 27/01/2026

Granted I'm having some health issues right now and having to combine work with Mr. Mom duties, but all you need to know about Pitt basketball is that I was offered courtside seats tonight and have degrees from both of these universities, and I didn't even consider going to this game.

2120

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

I can’t wait to not feel obligated to have to watch Jeff Capel teams play basketball. I can’t deal with any basketball where defensive rebounding and shot selection aren’t at all valued.

150

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

Highlight of Christmas so far? The return of my Bucco Brick!

1120

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 22/12/2025

I’m still in disbelief that the officials determined that play would have been a touchdown if not for the OPI. That would have been a historically bad ruling, even by NFL standards.

190

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 21/12/2025

Very Pitt to run into an absolute juggernaut buzzsaw in a single elimination tournament.

1100

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 21/12/2025

80 to 46 huh? Basketball is a funny game.

160

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 19/12/2025

I feel badly for Coach Fisher and Pitt volleyball. People have no idea how much luck is involved in the one and done format. It just seems like it never breaks Pitt's way in pretty much anything, which is really sad for all involved.

040

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 14/12/2025

Five straight Final Fours is just incredible, admirable consistency. Congratulations to Coach Fisher and the squad! #H2P

091

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 07/12/2025

I’ve had plenty of issues with the Capel era at Pitt, but I didn’t see it ending with a Kevin Stallings year two bottoming out. But it absolutely should be over at this point.

130

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 26/11/2025

Proof that I haven’t abandoned the Pete for good.

0100

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 23/11/2025

Now that we are past the emotional response portion of that sequence, that fake punt has to be one of the dumbest and most reckless decisions I can ever remember in a football game. If they would have done nothing but runs and screens this half this game would have been over twenty minutes ago.

070

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 22/11/2025

I love all of the Pittsburgh sports teams, but to see a kid I've mentored and loved like a little brother since he was 12 years old lead a Pittsburgh team to a championship is absolutely surreal. Just tears of joy and pride.

090

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 21/11/2025

This Pitt basketball team is the perfect combination of flawed and totally disorganized.

170

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 14/11/2025

I feel like I post something like this every season, but the one defining characteristic of the Jeff Capel era for me is that I never have any idea what they are actually trying to accomplish.

Nice to have my little buddy joining me in exercising my civic duty this morning. Proud to have supported all of my wonderful, hard working colleagues and friends in the judiciary today.

040

Gavin Williams @gavwill13.bsky.social · 01/11/2025

This game has really given us the whole Pitt experience. Outstanding plays and players. Tons of dumb penalties and sloppiness. Absolutely head scratching coaching decisions.

I figured I’d stop by for comedic purposes and you guys did not disappoint whatsoever. Bravo Pitt Twitter.
