Converting a poem by Robert Frost into a #limerick … May I be forgiven
Frosty Limerick

There are two ways the Earth may expire:
Be it by ice or be it by fire.
Compare hatred with ice –
That end will suffice
Equal to the flames of desire.

Micah 6:8 It hath been told thee, O man, what is good, And what the LORD doth require of thee: Only to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.
DO NOT BE DAUNTED BY THE ENORMITY OF THE WORLD'S GRIEF.

DO JUSTLY NOW.
LOVE MERCY NOW.
WALK HUMBLY NOW.

YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO COMPLETE THE WORK, BUT NEITHER ARE YOU FREE TO ABANDON IT.

Freedom Langston Hughes (Feb 1, 1901 - 1967) #poetry #langstonhughes #freedom
Freedom
BY LANGSTON HUGHES
Freedom will not come
Today, this year
Nor ever
Through compromise and fear.
I have as much right
As the other fellow has
To stand
On my two feet
And own the land.
I tire so of hearing people say, Let things take their course.
Tomorrow is another day.
I do not need my freedom when I'm dead.
I cannot live on tomorrow's bread.
Freedom
Is a strong seed
Planted
In a great need.
I live here, too.
I want my freedom
Just as you.

Now We Are Six AA Milne (1882-Jan 31, 1956) #poetry #milne
Now we Are Six
when I was one, I had just begun.
when I was Two, I was nearly new.
when I was Three,
I was hardly me.
when I was Four, I was not much more.
when I was Five, I was just alive.
But now I am Six, I'm as clever as clever.
So I think Ill be Six now
For ever and ever.

A Red, Red Rose Robert Burns (Jan 25, 1759-1796) Happy #BurnsDay #Poetry #Burns
O my Luve's like a red, red rose, That's newly sprung in June;
O my Luve's like the melodie That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair are thou, my bonie lass, So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my Dear, Till a'the seas gang dry.
Till a'the seas gang dry, my Dear, And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear, While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only Luve!
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve, Tho' it were ten thousand mile!

Politics by William Butler Yeats
How can I, that girl standing there,
My attention fix
On Roman or on Russian
Or on Spanish politics,
Yet here's a travelled man that knows What he talks about,
And there's a politician
That has both read and thought,
And maybe what they say is true
Of war and war's alarms,
But O that I were young again
And held her in my arms.

As I understand it - all embryos are female until about 2 months after conception. So Trump’s executive order essentially makes everyone female in the eyes of the government. This is what happens when people ignorant in science try to legislate science.
1
THE WHITE HOUSE
(d) "Female" means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.

To an Undiscerning Critic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
To an Undiscerning Critic
by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sure, there are times when one cries with acidity,
'Where are the limits of human stupidity?' Here is a critic who says as a platitude, That I am guilty because 'in ingratitude, Sherlock, the sleuth hound, with motives ulterior, Sneers at Poe's Dupin as very "inferior"'
Have you not learned, my esteemed commentator, That the created is not the creator?
As the creator l've praised to satiety
Poe's Monsieur Dupin, his skill and variety, And have admitted that in my detective work, I owe to my model a deal of selective work.
But is it not on the verge of inanity
To put down to me my creation's crude vanity?
He, the created, the puppet of fiction, Would not brook rivals nor stand contradiction, He, the created, would scoff and would sneer, Where I, the Creator, would bow and revere.
So please grip this fact with your cerebral tentacle, The doll and its maker are never identical.

Good Bones by Maggie Smith (2016)
Good Bones
Maggie Smith

Life is short, though I keep this from my children.
Life is short, and I've shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways
I'll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that's a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children.
For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird.
For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real shithole, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful.
