Post number four for my 31 days of ghost documentaries, one a day until #Halloween, and it's another long video, seeing as it's the weekend. Collected episodes from season one of a series that aired back in 2011, this boasts some interesting first hand accounts of the spooky, #ParanormalSky.

Third post for my 31 days of ghost documentaries, one a day until #Halloween to celebrate the arrival of pumpkin spice and snuggling under warm blankets. This one is longer than my last two, but seeing as we're at the weekend now and likely need some background noise, #GhostSky, that's all good.

Second post for my 31 days of ghost documentaries, one a day until #Halloween to celebrate #SpookySeason finally arriving. This one is so unbelievably twee and quintessentially British, #ParanormalSky. And really unintentionally funny in places too. Still worth a watch though.

OK Gravehounds, here's my first of 31 days of classic ghost documentaries, one a day all the way up to #Halloween. A tradition that I keep every October, in the hopes of spreading a little of the spooky around #ForteanSky and #ParanormalSky as the nights close in. This one is a personal favourite.

Ah... October. About damn time. My favourite month of the year, and a rare excuse to revel in the spooky alongside the usually disinterested parts of permaculture. As usual I will be sharing a classic ghost documentary a day from now until the 31st on here, from both YouTube and Internet Archive.

Further exploring the non-corvid wildlife in my garden this autumn. Haven't got a decent shot of the squirrels or hedgehogs yet but the spiders seem happy enough to pose. I'm no photographer and my tools are limited to what's on my phone, but this is more to honour their presence than to display.
A photo of a pretty brown garden spider on a web in relief against a blurred wall and drainpipe backdrop. It appears to be feeding on a tiny black fly.A black and tan spider hides beneath a plant stem, gripping with it's impressively hairy legs while webs streak here and there in the background.

So, author updates then. First, my work with the hypersigil around the Barghest Wyrd godform is going well, as can be seen by both the visitor numbers over at my portfolio blog as well as feedback on here too. I am planning on sharing some more ritualistic content on there soon as well, and ...

Not the best quality as shot through my kitchen window on a high zoom, #PaganSky, but got back from that trip around Cardiff to see the local crow population enjoying the nuts and suet I popped up the end of the garden for them before I left. Not pictured: the squirrels and magpies eating it too.

Rare treat on my #Dérive around North Cardiff this morning, #WitchSky. A perfect illustration of the nature current adapting to the urban sprawl. Doubly resonant as it's a mobile mast that those birds decided to claim as the gathering point for their own shrill conversations too. It's good to talk.

Overcast morning in Cardiff. Chill returning to the air after a strangely warm equinox week. Started locking down the garden for winter yesterday, leaving summer frivolities behind under black tarp and tin roof. Out today. Baggy jumper and bobble hat as armour. Warm drink as fuel. Autumn, then.

So what is my Wyrd Fictions hypersigil project? Well if gives me a chance to use world building and short form narrative to explore the role my immanent Keelian Godform has always played in the Fortean world, even before it existed. Latest entry is up now, and should be worth a read. Enjoy.

Genuinely off-putting and strange entry for #WeirdWednesday this week. And yes, yet another find over at the BBC Archive channel. Some good old fashioned British passive-aggressiveness aimed, somewhat bizarrely, at a post WW2 austerity middle class who had finally regained their purchasing power.

Happy #Mabon for those who do, and #AutumnEquinox for those who don't. Time for comfy sweaters, pumpkin spice hot chocolate and kicking piles of leaves over in the park, #WitchSky. This is always a doubly special time for me as it's also the anniversary of the release of my book in 2024 too!
My altar in stark relief with copies of my book book to the right and a cloth grey snake and skull banner behind. The wooden Lilith Disk that sits at it's centre is more towards the left from this angle, and a pumpkin stick incense burner with yak bone skulls impaled upon it looks genuinely creepy from this position too. The whole thing sits on black and white ouija board mats.

Strange feeling in the air tonight. Expectant. Heavy. North Cardiff almost seems like it's waiting for something. People unsure of the paving slabs beneath their feet. Maybe it's me. Psychic pressure and all that. Nightmares are worse lately. Third eye feels like it has sand in it. Irritated. Hmmm.

Ah yes, #WitchSky, the eternal struggle we all face from time to time. The push of the new, autumnal candles that smell so damn good at an absolute steal of a price versus the pull of the inadequate storage already stuffed full of their earlier, equally epic brethren. A painful realisation indeed.
An over full box of tealights on a fluffy white and orange duvet cover. A veritable rainbow of colours inside the black box, reds, yellows, blues, all stacked several high. A new packet of Asda Cherry Pumpkin tealights sits to one side, with no hope of fitting in with them.

Second up, more spoils from my weird not quite week away from #BlueSky, and a fascinating Irish documentary about spirits, #Folklore and the Fae Folk. Extra intriguing as the tug of war between the old beliefs and organised Christianity is really evident in minds of the people telling those tails.

Here we go then, #WitchSky, some autumnal abundance for my altar. Currently stored in front of the mesh rack that holds my incense and candles to the left of the main space, they will later find use in seasonal rituals before being scattered in my garden early spring for the resident squirrels.

OK, so don't often recommend non-horror films on here, but just finished watching 2024's Monkey Man on BBC iPlayer and it is unironically the best film I've seen so far this year. Stylish, meditative and dripping in neon, it is a great little revenge thriller with some kinetic action scenes too.

Ah yes, #WyrdWednesday again, #WitchSky. So fifty something days to Halloween is it? Perfect opportunity to share a great little Mezzotint by J. Dixon from way back in 1773 then. Seeing as it's a surprisingly powerful image of a usually marginalised folkloric archetype.
An old witch in tattered cloth, raising her arm above a flaming cauldron and younger woman in a dark cave, recites a spell standing in an earthen magic circle. Mezzotint by J. Dixon, 1773.

One for #GraveyardSky, #CemeterySky, #NecroSky, #OccultSky and maybe #WitchSky too. Love how older graves pick up such striking colours. These examples at Cathays Cemetery in Cardiff are just so beautiful, as well as highlighting the way nature claims what we place within her bounds.

Cemetery today, looking for supplies. Grave Glass and soil, maybe a nail or two as well if I'm lucky. As for their uses, if you know #WitchSky, you know. We're getting ever closer to #Halloween after all. I can hear the Veil thining day by day now and want to be ready to play.

House is noticeably darker today. Fresher. Clouds across the sun, breeze through the windows. Recently part re-dedicated my Lilith altar space (just waiting on a couple things) and blowing some incense through my home. Fire/Earth/Air elements in full effect, #WitchSky, Water soon when the rain hits.
Photograph of The Queen of the Night, taken in the British Museum about a decade ago, re-rendered in lustful shades of purple and pink. Yes, claiming this is Lilith is based on potentially faulty scholarship, but I gravitated towards this plaque back when I was just starting to work with that goddess, so will always conflate the two.
