Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Unfortunately they weren’t amongst the best shows for me… they had technical issues and were therefore late on for an already short, sparsely attended daytime festival slot… BUT… I’ve now seen them and they were still awesome. 010
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Found a promo cassette of this in my local record store in 199x and I’d vaguely heard the name somewhere (can’t remember where) so picked it up on a whim. Instant love from there on in. Finally saw them play (UK) this year. 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Eureka, that’s it! Remove them from the real one and add them to the Reading one. It’s the perfect crime. 171
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Not sure this will produce the requisite hype to distract from the whole plague sitch though. 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Can I just point out at this juncture that Reading museum has a life size replica of the Bayeux Tapestry from 1885 that was meticulously hand stitched to be identical in every way. Except for the penises. They were censored. So if you want to live this dream of a pensisless tapestry… it exists 241
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Machete order! It avoids episode I entirely so it has to be the best. 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 30/09/2026You sure it’s not cos Brother started really putting in the big £££s to get those toner cartridges moving? Or because the revenue from the Shaun Goater transfer to Reading didn’t propel them into the stratosphere? (My chronology may not be exact, or indeed remotely accurate) 020
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Bloody loved upper middle bogan (and all the affiliated shows by that gang of actors), but it did wane quite badly in that final season IIRC. Might do a rewatch to check. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 20/09/2026It’s funny you pick out Wing (no.10) for praise; there’s a lot of Reading fans who’ve complained he’s not been to his own standards lately. There is some truth to it, but I think now he’s surrounded by better players he just stands out less. We really feel upwardly mobile for the first time in ages. 111
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I was really impressed with Notts today. Very well drilled and really did thwart most of our efforts to create any clear chances until Roberts pulled off that worldie cross that Marriott couldn’t miss from… from then on it was a different game and we got progressively more comfortable. 121

Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Another thing that really jumps out to me is that Sav can’t get into the starting XI, and I rate him really highly. I think only left back doesn’t have strong competition; I’m not a Dorsett hater but I don’t think he’s really going to put much pressure on Roberts now he’s back. 110
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 06/09/2026This is one of the most stark things I’ve noticed. It’s that Wing doesn’t look as good. Not because he’s not playing well (I’d argue he’s definitely below his own standards but that doesn’t qualify as playing badly), but because there are so many others who can pick up the baton now. 010
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 06/09/2026You’re right. We must. He was *outstanding*. Can’t believe I neglected to mention him. What a signing he’s looking to be. 010
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Guy who sits next to me said “*that’s* the Rino we remember” 010
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Feels a while since Reading have had what seems like such a cohesive side, and oh my, what a player Lisbie looks. Also, Rino was another level today. Class. #readingfc 361
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Getting tired of this overpromising and underdelivering from the club. Yes, the new sound system was an improvement, and ok, the pitch has had difficult growing conditions, but Couhig sold this as some kind of paradigm shift in the matchday experience. It felt no different. And the game..? Well… 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Compare that fan zone to the Blue Collar days. Night and day. I’m veggie. Anything for me? *anything*? Nah. I’m driving, how about alcohol free beer? Seems a sensible addition… nah. Ok, I’ll get a coffee… nope. Looks like the only “new” things were a couple of PS4s and a shop that isn’t even new. 110
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 15/08/2026These stadium upgrade promises from Couhig felt like a proper bait and switch today. The new “clean” seats were still tatty, the toilets unchanged, the concourse still filthy with broken signage, food and drink options still grim, and the “fan zone” outside? Worse than it’s ever been. #readingfc 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 14/08/2026His segment also showed the clip of Farage’s claim about being told to stay away and made no mention that Essex Police have refuted it. Maddening. 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Just noticed this on the TV just now too. His segment showed the clip of Farage’s claim and made no mention that Essex Police have refuted it. Maddening. 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 16/07/2026Glad it’s not just me that does things like this with initials 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026So very looking forward to seeing Binface on these kinds of charts in the coming weeks 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026And what if it turns out they’re wrong too? In my view, just let them make their own judgements and don’t get worked up about them doing something they’re literally allowed to do. Anyway, I think we’ve long made our positions perfectly clear now so let’s both just knock this debate on the head. 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Should players walk off the pitch if they believe VAR has been incorrectly applied? After all, it’s up to them to determine the rules, right? What about if they believe the ref has made a mistake with a sending off? After all, it’s their moral duty to uphold the integrity of the game. 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026They’re given a framework to operate in by the governing body, and if they wish to take a stand on something then that’s up to them, but your line of thinking could easily result in complete chaos if players believe it’s their (not the referee’s) responsibility to determine the veracity of the rules 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026You’re wilfully missing the point, again. You know full well I’m not comfortable with it, you just disagree with my stance on it not being managers *or players* *responsibility* to correct that. It’s not about managers having their feelings hurt, and you know that too. 200
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Oh, and I don’t have a view on Poch. He’s just a footballer manager who was in a football tournament until a few days ago. 000
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026That doesn’t mean I’m against those big statements by definition (I’ve said I’d support a walk-off if they wanted to do that), just that players or managers shouldn’t be pressured into it because *some* people think it’s the correct moral stance. It’s horses for courses. It’s ok, we can disagree. 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026The *only* thing we disagree on is the method in which that is challenged. You seem to prefer to make big statements that IMHO will ultimately achieve nothing, whereas I prefer the *actual people who determine those rules* to be held to account. 200
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026I’m debasing nothing. I think you’ll find we actually agree more than you think. We both agree (I think) the delay of the red is a farce, hugely corrupt, completely against convention and a dangerous precedent for the sport. 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 08/07/2026It’s a strawman, but fine, I’ll answer. I’d support any team that decided to do that, but I don’t believe they should be condemned if they don’t. It’s not a binary choice and there’s plenty of valid reasons not to. I don’t *expect* players to be making my moral points for me. It’s up to them. 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 07/07/2026You’re right though. Which would just give DD an opportunity to eviscerate an empty chair, and I’d be here for that too. 010
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Someone suggested Danny Dyer a while back and now I’m kind of obsessed with the idea of him ripping Farage to pieces at hustings 190
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Not stopping you doing that. You’re the one that challenged my position, which I’m explaining. And as I’ve said on multiple occasions, whilst I disagree with you I do see the merits of your position so there’s really no need to be defensive. 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Exactly, you’re implying the players’ own desire to play (or not) is irrelevant. It isn’t. We don’t know if he did or didn’t, but the decision is not Poch’s in isolation. And no one was being racially abused on the pitch, so let’s keep it on topic so we can draw this to a close. Eventually. One day 100
Gav @gavanelli.bsky.social · 07/07/2026No, it isn’t ok to say that. And no, pointing it out isn’t either. Go for it. Demanding a player and/or manager should be compelled to follow *your* moral reading of the situation is. He was entitled to play. Whether he *should* is a value judgement of which there will be many views. 100
