Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 20/12/2024The work happening with things like Large Concept Models, byte latent transformers and fine tuning is giving me an impression that in the near future we will see more of structured semantic information getting into the core of neural networks. 100
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 13/12/2024Can we bring #RSS back to the limelight and start displaying the icon prominently in our blogs, next to the other social icons? 112
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 13/12/2024Such a simple idea but saves so much time. I wonder why no one thought of this earlier: github.com/marverix/gahgithub.comGitHub - marverix/gah: gah is an GitHub Releases app installer, that does not require sudogah is an GitHub Releases app installer, that does not require sudo - marverix/gah 010
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 11/12/2024Falling in love with Feed Readers again. I recovered one of my old OPMLs. 1. More than 50% of the feeds were no longer working. 2. Some were working but no longer maintained. Authors had moved on to new domains/hosts. I currently have 877 feeds in my reader. 100
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 11/12/2024Do you take notes with your laptop or the good old fashioned way using a pen and paper? Check this out: www.scientificamerican.com/article/… Although this is a very old article I think it's even more relevant today!scientificamerican.comA Learning Secret: Don't Take Notes with a Laptop | Scientific AmericanStudents who used longhand remembered more and had a deeper understanding of the material 000
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 10/12/2024So excited to know that adding a /rss to the end of a Bluesky profile gives me its RSS feed! For Mastodon, it's simply suffixing with .rss! Here are my RSS feeds as an example: bsky.app/profile/gaut... mastodon.social/@gauthampai....mastodon.social 000
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 10/12/2024Of late, I am spending more time reading feeds the old fashioned way using feed readers. I am finding it way more useful than sifting through tons of noise to find the gems in social media apps. 010
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 02/12/2024@openvibe.social My Bluesky account stopped working in Openvibe and when I add it back it gives me an authentication error. I created a new App password and tried with it, but it doesn't seem to work. I am using Openvibe on Android. Mastodon and Threads are fine. 100
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Reasoners not only have a way to determine the answer but to verify if the answer is right. This final answer is true, because these statements/equations are true. And this intermediate step is true because the previous statement is true and so on until we traverse back to the initial assumptions. 000
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Mathematical calculations and inferencing make use of temporary memory or pen and paper as a scratch pad to store intermediate results. Can we say that the intermediate output of a Chain of Thought is equivalent to that? 100
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Knowing the sum of 2 and 3 as 5 is not the same as calculating the sum of 2 and 3. Knowing that there are 3 Rs in strawberry is not same as counting and determining it. Inference is a form of computation and is not just recall. #ChatGPT 010
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Reasoning tasks must not be done with a pure neural approach. 000
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 27/11/2024Did you know that Python classes are writable at runtime? We can add functionality (eg: methods) to the class and immediately access it from instances. Here is an example. 000
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 23/11/2024I think it is time we stop talking about why Bluesky is better and focus on real conversations. 😄 000
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 23/11/2024Strongly recommend that you watch this video. This Keynote by DHH is less about Rails and more about how the web application ecosystem must be. youtube.com/watch?v=-cEn_83zRFw 000

Reposted by Gautham PaiGautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 18/11/2024I can't believe that the Internet of the 2000s was way better than the Internet of the 2020s. It was way more open, interactions were more honest, social networks were more about socializing than monetization! 031
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 18/11/2024@crskm.bsky.social Having some issues in linking my Threads account. The account linking page opens in my browser and after I click connect it is redirecting me to the Threads app that just loads the home page. There is no redirect back to Openvibe. 100
Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 17/11/2024To spark interest in programming in kids, start with engaging activities that are so much fun they won't even realize they're learning to code! We used to teach basic programming concepts to kids using a game called Laby. Recently, I developed an online version of it: jnaapti.com/articles/res... 000

Gautham Pai @gauthampai.bsky.social · 14/11/2024Imagine a pilot learning to fly - they don’t start with the autopilot. They begin by mastering every manual aspect of controlling the aircraft. Only after they’re skilled at flying do they learn to use the autopilot, how it works and, more importantly, when to trust it and when to take back control. 100
