Even More Films Good Boy (2025). Directed by Jan Komasa British thriller with Stephen Graham, who kidnaps an out of control young man played by Anson Boon. He and his wife (an even ghostlier than usual Andrea Risborough) keep him chained up in their cellar and attempt to turn him good. Unusual.

Even More Films The Killers (1964). Directed by Don Siegel Not particularly faithful to Hemmingway but a very entertaining femme fatale film from Don Siegel. An always great Lee Marvin, superb performances from John Cassavetes and Angie Dickinson and there's Ronald Reagan as a baddie too.

Even More Films Gozu (2003). Directed by Takashi Miike. Insane comedy/crime thriller/horror. A gangster has to kill his boss but things go wrong and bizarre. The last 20 minutes or so are truly unhinged and unforgettable. It doesn't always make sense but just give in to it. Free on YouTube.

Even More Films Urchin (2025). Directed by Harris Dickinson Dickinson's first feature as director. He also writes and co-stars. Frank Dhillane is great as Mike, a young homeless man just released from prison, trying to get by. Sometimes he's unlucky, sometimes it's his own fault. Very good.

Even More Films House (Hausu) (1977). Directed by Nobuhiko Ōbayashi One of the strangest films ever made. It's presented like a children's film but it's also a horror film, with blood, dismemberment and cannibalism. Exhausting camera work, part-animated, psychedelic, unforgettably crazy.

Even More Films The Masturbator's Heart (2023). Directed by Michael Salerno This low-budget French film takes bleak cinema to new depths. Ange Dargent plays a boy in his late teens who appears to be severely depressed. He decides to accept an online 50-day suicide challenge. Devastatingly sad.

Even More Films Baal (1970). Directed by Volker Schlöndorff Made for German TV in 1970 by Schlöndorff with the genius casting of Rainer Werner Fassbinder in the lead role. It feels like a Fassbinder film. It's set in the present. Baal is hailed as a poetic genius but does all he can to destroy.

Even More Films Cathy's Curse (1977). Directed by Eddy Matalon Canadian horror. I found this better than its reputation, but I was drinking. From the Exorcist/Omen era, so a little derivative but without much religious angle. Cathy is possessed by her dead aunt through a doll and things go badly.

Even More Films The Bloodstained Butterfly (1971). Directed by Duccio Tessari Usually described as a giallo, this Italian thriller has elements of that but it's also a courtroom drama and has some nice twists too. A celebrity is tried for murder but is he guilty? Helmut Berger stars. Intriguing.

Even More Films Murmur of the Heart (1971). Directed by Louis Malle Malle's excellent coming of age film. Benoît Ferreux is a slightly annoying, precocious 14 year-old rich kid called Laurent. He likes jazz and complex books and has a disturbing relationship with his mother. Worrying but stunning

Even More Films Devil Times Five (1974). Directed by Sean MacGregor and David Sheldon A bus carrying 5 murderous children from an asylum crashes. Only they survive. They go to a house full of rich types and begin to kill them for no apparent reason. Cheap, nasty and worryingly entertaining.

Even More Films Obsession (2025). Written and directed by Curry Barker The old Monkey's Paw story. Bear loves Nikki. She may not feel the same, so he wishes on a one wish toy that she will adore him and she adores him way too much. It's the execution that makes an old story really work. Gory.

Even More Films The Pornographers (1966). Directed by Shôhei Imamura This is not a pornographic film. It's a film about pornography, amongst other things. Extremely strange film presented as normal. Probably offensive to many. It discusses or presents a lot of taboos for a 1966 film. Fascinating.

Even More Films Granny's Dancing on the Table (2015). Directed by Ami-Ro Sköld A depressing drama in the way only the Swedish know how to do and that isn't a criticism. Imagine if Bergman had used stop-motion animation in his films and you're not far off. Part live action, part animated. Superb.

House of All live at Oslo, London last night. Sorry for the poor picture. This is history for Fall fans. Karl Burns and Paul Hanley drumming together again just like it's the early 80s. Not only that but Simon Wolstencroft drums with them too and yes for several songs all 3 of them play together.

Even More Films Love (2015). Directed by Gaspar Noé This gets written off as a lesser Noé film. I think that's unfair. Yes, some of the sex scenes are not simulated and yes, it did get released in 3D! Those things aside, it's a great, intense depiction of a powerful relationship and its fallout.

Even More Films Reflection in a Dead Diamond (2025). Directed by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani Some will think this style over substance but this is style plus substance. It's in the style of 60s European spy films but with rapid editing that is exhilarating and confusing in the best way.

Even More Films No Way Home (1996). Directed by Buddy Giovinazzo Giovinazzo is best known for the 80s classic Combat Shock. This isn't as original as that one but Tim Roth elevates it as a man released from prison on parole. Things don't go well when he moves in with his drug dealing brother.
