I am pretty sure the reason is that Metrolink allows dispatch staff to post alerts and Amtrak probably has customer service do it. Metrolink dispatcher alerts have come a long way and I remember a message that said “Train 676 annuled due to trespasser strike” soon after they made the change.

All local elected positions are non-partisan, compared to State and Federal which are partisan. Requiring all local candidates to identify as (R) or (D) does not leave room for the 1/4 of registered voters who are non-partisan, to serve in office.

Transit planners do a good job of identifying new infill developments and serving them with the appropriate level of transit service. Typically this is done with modify existing bus route and adding frequency. I haven’t seen one yet that needs a new rail line.

I didn’t say it was falling. Metrolink boardings per revenue hour in March 2019 was 36.0 and it was 15.6 in March 2026, with the $7 gas prices and expanded service span. This means that the service is still over 50% less productive and could use some adjustments for fiscal sustainability.

Metrolink ridership has declined by 66% over the past five years. Their productivity is below 14 boardings per revenue hour, and cost per boarding is around $75. They tried more all day service with gas prices at $7 per gallon and not enough people took it. Time to be responsible with our money.

Reducing service on the 720 makes sense at some point. The issue is the quid pro quo of specifically taking resources out of 720 and using them to fund Metrolink. There may be other more pressing Metro service needs than shoveling more resources into a service that has lost 66% of its ridership.

Your site does a great job visualizing trip changes. For old GTFS feeds, you can also use mobilitydatabase.org/feeds/gtfs/m.... Reducing trips early minimizes future service reductions. For instance, BART has maintained full service, and cuts will be larger the longer they delay right-sizing.

All car owners are all "parking-burdened" as they need to find somewhere to park their car at all times. Councilmember Campillo wants the City to subsidize their parking while allowing the private sector to charge $50 to $100 for special events.
