In this web exclusive, the Oscar-winning director talks about his latest film, his reimagining of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein," and about his lifelong love of the mythic horror tale

Was lucky enough to see Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein on the biggest IMAX in the UK last night, and the 65-foot screen could just about contain Jacob Elordi’s towering turn as “the monster.” It’s no surprise, given that Guillermo has been dreaming of this adaptation his whole life, that this long-imagined film is as lavish and gorgeous as it is—life-affirming and casually shocking in equal measure, and always with a beating heart. I was constantly in awe of the production: Hammer glamour on an epic scale, with quite literally twice the Goth. Definitely one to see on the biggest screen possible—it’s out right now, so catch this lightning in a bottle on the silver screen as soon as you can. Bravo, Guillermo.

The Guillermo del Toro adaptation starts streaming in November.

Netflix is behind the feature adaptation of a book series by del Toro and Chuck Hogan.

“Vertigo” star Kim Novak was honored with a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement on Monday at the Venice Film Festival.

Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein” is a breathtaking coup, an exhilarating riposte to the conventional wisdom about dream projects.
