No need to “revisit old arguments”/lies now we know it’s rubbish and costing us a fortune. Moving on means admitting this and asking about how to now join. Not pretending it’s ok in case Farage loses his shit. www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/sad...thelondoneconomic.com'Brexit lies are exposed, the debate is settled... we must rejoin the EU' - Sadiq KhanThis is searing stuff from Sadiq Khan, and his arguments for the UK to rejoin the EU are as clear and comprehensive as it gets. 722095639 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 21/05/2026The Brexitears main argument would be that Brexit wasn't done properly. The Rejoiners counter to that could be along the lines of effectively illustrating what would be happening to people now if we went WTO, only as they seemed to want. 032 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 11/05/2026Rejoin isn't a given. We have to show the EU countries that a very big majority of the UK population is aware of, and happy with, the requirements of EU membership. Only then can the UK apply to join the EU and even then, membership isn't guaranteed. It'll be a long process. 3160 0

🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Exactly. The public absolutely must be on board with these parts of membership plus freedom of movement otherwise the UK shouldn't rejoin. 030 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026I'm hoping that enough can be swayed by seeing what happened after leaving, the fact that leave did lie, showing them the fact that EU membership is for the common good not just something that has to be tolerated. Remember, leave only just scraped a win. Demographics have also changed in 10 years. 000 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026In fact thinking about it a bit more, leavers relied on voter ignorance, and remain failed to educate voters about the benefits. The public have now gone through 10 years of seeing the drawbacks of non membership for themselves, now it's time to start showing them the benefits of membership. 210 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Just imagine, if the leave parties had listed how they would have implement Brexit, public opinion may have been very different. If they had been embarrassed into disclosing their plans, each step could have been countered with factual arguments of the benefits lost by leaving. 100 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026I really don't mind which approach is taken. Just show the public the real facts of the benefits. Explain to them the (good) reasons for EU directives and laws being created. Show them that while member states are different, they all have agreed shared, common goals. Then let them decide. 111 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Agreed. I live in rural Southern France, and the people here generally want the UK back. If public opinion in the UK could become widely pro-EU, then I think you'd see a change in political parties' policies follow suit. I still think this would be a very slow process though. 130 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026I'm definitely well meaning. If the public could be shown that benefits of being in the EU far outweigh the drawbacks, then I'm all for a rapid rejoin of the EU. Many of the leave lies of 2016 can now be seen to be false, so it should be slightly easier to counter their lies in the future. 000 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026If either approach doesn't achieve the high support needed, then the UK wouldn't be a stable and willing partner after all and shouldn't be allowed back in. I would dearly love to see the UK back in. I would love to be an EU citizen again, but having a reluctant UK rejoin the EU? No. 130 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Well, the public will vote so their support is a blocker. Leading up to the 2016 referendum, the remain side hardly talked about the benefits of EU membership for the UK. It was all about firefighting false facts from the leave side. No one asked about their plans for implementing Brexit. 000 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Yes, I can see the downside of a phased rejoin, but if the UK is to fully rejoin, it needs to have an overwhelming vote in favour of the EU, and has to be a stable and willing partner. The arguments for rejoining have to irrefutably show that, on balance, membership is better for the UK and the EU 131 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026If there is too much "ball & chain baggage" for voters, then I can't see the UK voting to rejoin whatever approach is taken. Even if rejoin managed to get a small majority, would that be enough for the EU to enter into talks? Probably not. 000 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026This process can't be hurried, the public needs to be shown that, on balance, being in is beneficial. They will need time. Rejoin will need time to counter the lies and misinformation from the other side(s). If the voters cannot be convinced, then it's probably better that the UK says out sadly. 000 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 19/04/2026I apologise if my post gave that impression - I'm very much in the all-for-one-and-one-for-all camp. However, a large proportion of UK voters need to believe that full membership, without any opt-outs, is beneficial. Showing them the benefits in a slower phased way gives them time to understand. 210 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 18/04/2026A gradual rejoin would be slow but would show the voting public the benefits at each stage, and give the EU confidence that the UK wouldn't leave again. A gradual rejoin would allow the UK to stop if moving on to stages with falling public support It's one way to get back in & build public support 710 0
🇪🇺 Gary Davey 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @garydavey.bsky.social · 17/04/2026I feel that a gradual rejoining of the various parts of full membership will show the population step by step that each part provides its own types of benefits to them. If FoM can be shown to be beneficial then joining the SM should be much easier. That's if all EU countries want us back, that is 372 0
