we had web designers from France in Seattle working and training along side the US designers. Some of the code they wrote went into production. Strictly speaking that was "productive employment". Things like that have not be strictly enforced but if you wanted to be an ass, you can enforce it.

being a keyboard jockey myself, I find it shreads my skin. Our usual clay has no grog. We've tried several dark clays, and they either bloat at cone 6 or some of our normal glazes come out terrible. I've got our normal clay and glaze working great, so I don't want to deviate our firing scheule.

probably, but we've had problems with manganese reacting with some of our glazes. The one we are looking at is Aardvark Clay's Charcoal, but we have to special order it in either of the nearby Pottery supply stores. I would want the low or small grog. I don't like throwing with groggy clay.
