What might it cost? $9,000–$15,000, excluding airfare, for 3 weeks with a dedicated private guide, single-room accommodation, transportation, and language instruction. This is a rough planning allowance, not a quoted price. A guide accompanying you throughout the trip could cost considerably more.

Week 3 — West and South Wales Travel through Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire toward Carmarthenshire and Cardiff. Focus on using Welsh independently, understanding regional differences, and discovering Welsh history, literature, and music.

Week 2 — The Llŷn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay Explore Welsh-speaking coastal communities, local markets, cafés, and historic towns. Build confidence with real conversations and perhaps arrange a few informal meetings with local Welsh speakers.

Week 1 — Eryri and North Wales Base yourself near Caernarfon or Llanberis, where Welsh is part of everyday community life. Work on simple conversations, pronunciation, and listening while exploring mountains, castles, and villages.

You’re the sweetest guy ever Tobey

The whole book feels deeply human, open, and real — full of stories that were never hidden, but never told before. It’s one I’ll return to again and again. Highly recommended

Much stayed with me: his mother’s dementia and the family secrets that emerged; reflections on Brexit’s divisions; his struggle to reconcile being gay and Christian. I was deeply moved by his public health work during the early AIDS crisis and his offer of a kidney to a friend who became family.
