As I've said before, why not ask an SNP member or supporter.

Here was me thinking you were posting about Trump. I guess independence to you is what ballrooms are to Trump!

Can you explain to me what the “case for independence” as you say, has to do with President Trump withholding Ukrainian access to Starlink? Oh dear, oh dear! But getting back on track, one thing is for sure, Burnham is right to raise the question of the UK’s relationship with the EU.

You know what, I don't think he'll be interested😂 But at least you recognise what he is, and that sucking up to him and having him over for a unprecedented second visit was an act of unpardonable folly.

Yes, and one of Gordon Brown’s closest friends and advisors was Sir Fred the Shred. Yeah, yeah I guess it was just sheer coincidence that the UK was one of the countries in the world the hardest hit by the global financial crises – not!😱

Do you think Starmer sucking up to the lying criminal misogynistic racist dim witted narcissistic cretin that is The President of The United States of America, and inviting him over for a state visit was worthwhile? I mean we've always known what The Donald is.

Gareth @garethharper.bsky.social · 5h
Perhaps we should offer him another state visit.

Yes PFI was introduced by the Tories, and of course Tony Blair was Thatchers greatest ever achievement! New Labour was just Red Tories, and Starmer’s Labour was effectively New Labour mk2 - Burnham talks a good game - but will anything change? Oh and The Branch Office sadly remains an irrelevance.

Gareth @garethharper.bsky.social · 6h
All of that good. So good it was, Gordon’s miracle economy built on cheap credit leading to the biggest ever financial crises, PPP and PFI, and it was Labour that introduced the hostile environment for refugees and asylum seekers, illegal and immoral wars…….. need I go on?

Meanwhile back in the real world, after almost 20 years in power the SNP won 58 seats, and in second equal place, with umm, Reform, was Labour with 17. Would you like me to translate that for you – into simpler terms perhaps?

So you accept that the Blair years were shite? Cos I think that's important - as I don't see how Labour can move forward until it accepts its past **** ups.

Gareth @garethharper.bsky.social · 8h
Nobody wants to go back to the Blair years, and Gordon no more boom and bust Brown, or was it Gordon biggest ever boom followed by even bigger bust Brown - take your pick.

Yes, Labour got booted out (devolution years) for a reason.

Labour took us into immoral and illegal wars. Built schools, hospitals etc on PPP initiatives which are still strangling our NHS & councils to this day. They continued the sale of our housing stock, and it was clear Scottish Labour took its orders from Downing Street. No people don't forget.

Well come on!Labour let Lindsey close also,& both Grangemouth & Lindsey were major diesel producers– whoops! Then look at Labour’s recent major wind farm investments–all private equity. It remains to be seen if Burnham can make good on his talk of rolling back on Labour’s Thatcher inspired economics.

Who, me? My name is Gareth. I’m talking about the Labour Party Alex. Let’s be honest, Scottish Labour MPs, as they have made clear themselves, are now led by Burnham, not Michael Marra. Walk down the street, here in Largs, and ask people – who leads Scottish Labour?

If you think the branch office approach and lecturing folks that Scotland is a basket case will do the job and keep Scotland in the union - well good luck to you. But I'm sure there are others who'd like to see Scottish Labour become a force to be reckoned with once again.

Polls mean so little that you’ve managed to dig one up from 6 years ago Alex! I just don’t think continuing with the branch office approach, restricting the membership’s choice and pretending that Scotland isn’t viable as a nation is really going to cut the mustard moving forwards.

Gareth @garethharper.bsky.social · 15/10/2026
I’m sure you know the answer to that! Burnham wasn’t elected by the membership, and both MPs and MSPs made sure that Ms Lennon didn’t make it onto the ballot.

Gareth @garethharper.bsky.social · 15/10/2026
It is not about what I believe, it is what it is. As for opinion – I don’t see serious opposition to the SNP. And it is interesting that Labour both in Scotland and across the UK shied away from the membership when it came to leadership. So I don’t see the direction of travel changing.

Gareth @garethharper.bsky.social · 15/10/2026
Well, both are true. A poll isn’t an election , and nor is an election a referendum. But one thing is clear – the general direction of travel.

Perhaps the BREXIT result might have had more do with the Billionaire owned UK press continually printing sensationalist made up tales about curved banana regulations, banning British sausages along with popular UK crisp flavours. But yeah, why not take comfort in and blame the Russians!

Hardly. It is a Labour safe seat. And with Labour back in the game after Starmer's disastrous leadership, it was always gonna be an uphill struggle for Polanski.

Seems to me that if AI doesn’t kill us all, then global warming, accelerated by data centres, will.I understand the proposed #Hunterston #datacentre would have a 1GW connection. We need to improve energy efficiency - data centres waste energy on an almost colossal scale – and to produce what exactly?

Burnham must end tax thresholds freeze That tax threshold of around £12,500 – if that hadn't been frozen for the past few years it would have moved up to over £16,000 now. People at the lower end are paying eye-watering amounts of tax.

I haven’t driven in the city centre for years. I use public transport to get in and back out. Cars should be discouraged but allowed for a fair price. Eg taking an elderly friend or relative into the city for a meal etc.

The phrase middle of nowhere springs to mind, though Glen Feshie is lovely. Glen Bruar by comparison is dull. A decent stalkers path took me much of the way in from the estate road, and then a dreadful mile or so through bog and peat hags before a short pull to the summit.

That’s a proper approach to the remote stuff! I’ve also done Leathad an Taobhain, which I did along with Càrn Dearg Mòr, but again I cheated by using my ebike.

#BeinnBhreac from #Calvine A contender for the most remote #Corbett #Corbetts However, it is not a difficult hill as half of the easiest approach can be covered on a bicycle, or in my case by #ebike #ebikeandhike #photoecosse

He’s not necessarily wrong. Whether you get much exercise on an EAPC depends on how you use it. I find mine does give me a good workout. However I see many children getting about town now on e-scooters which provide zero exercise never mind not being legal (in the UK).
