IN STALLMAN WE TRUST

The opening of a presentation on friday, Nerdearla 2026, by Fernando Victor Filippetti, Electronic Engineer @ UBA, who is involved in the ASTAR satellite project.

Fernando explained how free software is worth the extra effort, and how his students and him developed satellite boards using only free software.

He opened the presentation with a slide starring Richard Stallman, who is dressed with a halo. The slide says "What is free software?", and Stallman's picture is captioned "A cult".

IN THIS HOUSE WE LOVE THE CONE MAN

Photo of Jean-Baptiste Kempf in the Nerdearla 2026 expo. He is the creator of VLC, a super popular, reliable video player that is one of the healthiest open source projects currently active.

He's wearing a cone hat.
