Watching old TV shows with my flatmate and man, TV shows really used to let you see the texture of skin. Nowadays, make-up and effects smooth everything out, especially in US shows, but I miss seeing realistic skin with little bumps and blemishes on my screen.

Just watched the Avatar: Seven Havens teaser trailer. I'll now start training so I can physically fight anyone who takes a single out of context shot in that trailer as an excuse to shit on my girl Korra again.

Played "Alice is Missing" with friends last weekend and it was really fun. The rules are easy to figure out once in the game and it went way smoother than I anticipated a silent RPG to go. Idk about the replay value, but it was a great experience.

I actually prefer Batman designs that give him the blue cowl and grey bodysuit. I like the all black, of course, but blue and grey just looks so satisfying.

People online calling Qifrey a "Gojo knock off" is wild considering Witch Hat Atelier started publication BEFORE Jujutsu Kaisen did. Not to mention the conecpt of a lanky white haired guy with blue eyes is hardly groundbreaking in the first place.

I know I'm one of many people to say it, but if you need that little extra push: Project Hail Mary was such a good time! I had no prior knowledge what it was about: I neither watched a trailer nor did I read the book. I just went to see it because I liked the poster. ZERO regrets.

I just learned about a book being pitched as "Heated Rivalry but make it dark fantasy". (Note: the pitch did not include any sports) I swear these loglines have lost all meaning. It's just "popular thing (meets popular thing) but make it different subgenre".

All the apps are trying ro make me care how teenagers think I should or shouldn't dress. Buddy, I haven't even cared about what teenagers thought of my fashion sense when I was one. Nice try, though.

I mostly love what they are doing with the OP live action. I've had a good time with the second season. That being said, Chopper's teeth will haunt me in my sleep. I know they look like that in the manga, but golly, does it NOT translate well into live action!

I have chosen the grass starter in every new Pokemon game since getting Pokemon Blue for Christmas in 1996. Not once did I stray. It's a matter of principle at this point. ... but that sassy looking gecko is calling to me fiercely.

The Kiseki games are for you if you like to follow a bunch of over powered characters. Everybody carries around a fancy anime-ass title, a life changing secret they'll only share in the nick of time, their cult membership card and a whole rolladex of world leaders' phone numbers at any given time.

My art teacher once told me "Don't compare your art to your friends'. Compare it to yours a year ago." It is basic advice, yes, but I credit this woman with the fact that I can let a piece of art be and move on, even if it's not perfect or pales in comparion to what I see online.

I'm so glad I'm not a teenager in this day and age. As bad as the early 2000s were on our collective body image, social media has made it worse. Now they are circling back to "2000 skinny" but they've added the pressure to self-optimize and videos that tell you water kills you.

Rej Ganford @ganfordknight.bsky.social · 11/10/2025

When you hear someone say "In the original version of this German fairytale..." you can almost certainly disregard the rest of that sentance. Those are stories that had been orally passed down for a while before the brothers Grimm wrote them down and edited them. 1/2

How do you recognize a book set in England was actually written by American author? Is it the overreliance on "bloody" and "arse" on nearly every page? Or is it the fact that two characters, born and raised in parts of the UK, talk about money and use "dollars" as a currency?

little world 🐸🦗🌷🦋

Digital illustration of an elf with pale green skin, holding a spear, wearing a golden, giant crown, and gold jewelry. He's also sitting on the back of a White's Tree Frog.

Digital illustration of a half man, half orchid praying-mantis hybrid. The creature has an upper torso of a human in a praying gesture, with a teal crown floating on his head, and a teal sword impaled through his chest and out his back. His mantis half is doing the same gesture, and its wings are splayed open.

The character's skin is a pale pink with rosy pink hair and mantis legs, but with teal green embellishments; his upper torso has green tattoos, and his mantis body is adorned in ornate patterns, and his wings are a vibrant teal and turquoise color.

Digital illustration of three fairy men jamming to music on some vines. The fairy on the right has green skin and pink hair, donning a flower crown while playing a flute. The fairy on the left has green skin, blonde hair and beard wearing a pink flower as a hat while he's playing a three stringed instrument. In the middle of the illustration is a pink skinned fairy with wings bigger than the other two's, and he is dancing in the air. There are giant flowers in the background.

"The PS3 had no good games" The PS3 had a port of "Lost Dimension" and that alone endears it to me. The gameplay loop of that game is so much fun that I willfully will ignore every other flaw the game AND the console had. (it also had my favorite "Tales of" Games in the series)

Clair Obscure is a rewarding game to get good at. I find myself landing more parries and perfect dodges the more I fight. It also looks beautiful and the characters and dynamics are compelling! That being said, it's mini games and parcour elements are the bane of my existance.
