Oh yeah it's clear you're not defending them, don't worry! But JK has been overtly anti-trans since at least 2020 💩

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 26/07/2025

I have no idea how long this deal has been in the works, but she's been a twat for at least 5 years now so I don't think they deserve any get out of jail free cards...

Yes it was at 2, and no I did have the spare brain capacity to be thinking about what my opponent was doing 😅

My opponent looooved it, so I'm sure it's on me to get there!

I've heard great things, but my first play of Zhanguo didn't quite grab me as much as I was expecting it to. Hopefully I'll come to appreciate its intricacies with more plays under my belt (and not get utterly demolished in the final round like this time 🫣) #boardgamesky #boardgame #china

I'm still using Instagram for the community (deleted my personal account though) and would ideally migrate fully to Bluesky once they properly roll out their Flashes photo sharing app

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 13/06/2025

It seems to have flown a bit under the space radar, which is a shame cos it's nice and crunchy and probably one of my favourite games of theirs (although they're all solid!)

010

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 12/06/2025

I've started asking for accessories for my hobbies, rather than stuff directly linked to them. Don't get me a board game, but get me a play mat or sexy components for one I already have. Or in your case, don't buy me a sword, but a fancy hat to wear whilst swinging said sword

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 12/06/2025

Just look at me monopolising the negotiations in Circadians: First Light 😏 Beat the bot so easily last time I thought I'd give it another go to see if it was a fluke - apparently not! On to hard mode it is 💪🏻 @garphillgames.bsky.social #boardgamesky #boardgame

Oh yeah I know 😊 I just meant that Dan's personal experience still resonated with me and made me wanna play!

Your review has put this back on my radar! I love space games but there have been so many recently I'm starting to get fatigued

120

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 04/06/2025

Yep, it's great! Mimics multiplayer well and will have you cursing the bot when it steals your space/negotiation token 😤

010

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 03/06/2025

I really like it! The dice placement is pretty unforgiving (if someone steals your spot, there's absolutely no mitigation and your round could be ruined) but I like the fact that the emphasis is on negotiating with the alien races instead of killing them. BOGO sounds like a good deal to me!

110

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 03/06/2025

Ngl it's had mixed success with my groups so far, but the main deciding factor seems to be: do you like mean fighting games?

010

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 02/06/2025

One of my favourite board game feelings is when you introduce a game to someone and afterwards they immediately start Googling to see how much it costs 💓 And last night I scored a double whammy with Guards of Atlantis II and Decrypto 💓💓 #boardgame #boardgamesky

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 25/05/2025

I reeeealllly wanted to like this (and many better and brighter people than me do!) but it just didn't turn me on 😢 Felt like a lot of effort to send people on the space trip of their dreams to get... a point collection phase at the start of your next few turns?

Grrr as if I lost Dinogenics by 2 points to this hippie dippy herbivore park! Although I guess it wasn't *that* hippie dippy - the stegosaurus did kill one of the guests after all 😅 Not very plant-based, not very demure... #boardgamesky #boardgame #dinosaur

I don't own many 'cosy' games (gimme blood and guts and fisticuffs) but Guild of Merchant Explorers is one of them and it feels like a cup of camomile tea in tabletop form #boardgamesky

Playing everything Spirit Island as a swan song to GtG 😢 This was one of those really satisfying smackdown turns with Thunderspeaker, but I still only squeaked a win thanks to a cheeky/cheaty retcon with my Fear cards to destroy the final Prussian city. Still gonna take it 😌 #boardgamesky

They're both good games, but Dwellings still wins out over AE for me (I just prefer the big monsters and cute little roofs). Hopefully they've learned something from the fiasco of the Dwellings reprints this time around and you'll get it soon!

A great day of gaming with @boardgamewaffle.bsky.social and others, featuring not one but two of the hottest space games in recent months - Andromeda's Edge and SETI 🚀 In a surprise twist, I handily won AE and miserably lost SETI #boardgamesky #boardgames

I'm not sure there are many yet, but I think they're in the works! But yeah as it's such a niche game, I understand the need for more research - it's definitely not as easy to universally recommend as your standard deckbuilder or worker placement.

010

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 21/03/2025

I think it's because the core gameplay loop is simply getting cards to collectively play into sets, but the rules are deceptively complicated and the players have to do a fair amount of heavy lifting to tie the theme to the actions. Everyone loved it by the end, but it took a while to internalise

110

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 20/03/2025

I think that's true of all Mindclash games, and yes I agree Perseverance is very underrated!

Isn't it simply DREADFUL when one hosts a big gay party and the bloody coppers show up? Molly House from @wehrlegig.games is a tough teach, but the theme is so interesting and well implemented (and it's taught me a part of history I knew nothing about). #boardgamesky #boardgame #queer

I have faith in the company, it just makes me mad as someone who also works in a profession that very much has a "get volunteers/AI to do it and it'll be just as good" mentality

000

Gaming Overboard @gamingoverboard.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

This really gets my goat - you raise nearly $1 million and don't wanna pay for a professional editor? I looked at a random page and spotted 5 mistakes myself - and no I'm not gonna leave any comments thankyouverymuch #hireapro #freelancer #ks #boardgame
