Man, Braid was such a crucial game! Obvs, bloody brilliant, clever and gorgeous Huge for the indie scene and how we saw it And personally? I was being swept away by huge budget 3D. Braid pulled me back to gaming being ideas and craft and inspiration. I love it for that!

NiGHTS shows us the magic of retro gaming! It’s a game of beautiful and brilliant ideas, of inspiration and creativity - freewheeling, daring, and unique Even then it stood out. 30 years later it’s a beacon of a glorious age! See why in our new vid! tinyurl.com/GFA-NiGHTS

F-Zero GX has got SERIOUS racing heritage! Franchise history on one side; SEGA’s racing DNA on the other! But it’s my final must-have GameCube purchase Like the GC, my collection is small but mighty! But like Toshihiro Nagoshi’s stylist bill, these games are bloody expensive!

Micro Machines proved gameplay is king! I’m happy to report these games don’t need DLSS, ray tracing, 900gb shader packs, or AI generated bollocks to be absolutely bloody brilliant!! ¡Viva lo Retro!

Bargain or bullshit?! Final one of the SNES games CIB I got a while back where the price was too good for the quality. I can’t spot any fakery but I’ve always wondered if they’re repros 🤔 Anyone got a keen eye or a copy of the games to compare?!

Mega Drive is everything I love about retro gaming! The originality and variety of the games, the wonders of that 68000, the crazy tech boosts through bolt-ons and pass-throughs, and of course it’s BLOODY GORGEOUS! Every curve and line a boldly tactile, 100% physical BEAUTY!

Mario doing blackface? Who the hell authorised that?!? Considering this is a Taito game it’s odd to see Mario cropping up at all but that second image is waaaaaay off (This is from Reddit - I’m not good enough at the game to get beyond the Mexican Mario)

Qix is a very basic game and what makes it - as well as being a bloody good challenge! - is the ominous synth wailing of the swirling laser death beam that stalks you round the map So it’s just weird when you then get Mario playing guitar to a vulture

You don’t have to love Final Fantasy VII but don’t pretend it wasn’t huge! It was a system seller, a head turner, a JRPG mass-converter! It was a proper wow moment when cinematic cutscenes and huge bosses were a rare treat not a chore! Yet, man, people now love to knock it 🤷‍♀️

Virtua Fighter 2 is an actual goddamn masterpiece!! The fighting is technical brilliance, the music is epic, and how AM2 got the Saturn spanking out super-fluid 60fps high-res action is nothing short of miraculous! I’ve had this game 30 years and it’s still bloody awesome!
