Good choice. Eevee is similarly ambiguous in its genus - it could be a fox, a cat, a dog... Eevee could've been a one-stage, it could've(can) simply grown into a hairier, angrier animal, and this aspect can be viewed as either imperative or irrelevant to Eevee as a creature. I find this interesting.
